That was awe inspiring!

But I can't help but think of the manhours it took to plan, construct, and test that contraption until it finally worked. I can't find time to clean out my gutters.

Then I think about how someone paid $6.24 million for a banana duct taped to a wall.

A Rube Goldberg machine, named after American cartoonist Rube Goldberg, is a chain reaction–type machine or contraption intentionally designed to perform a simple task in an indirect and (impractically) overly complicated way. Usually, these machines consist of a series of simple unrelated devices; the action of each triggers the initiation of the next, eventually resulting in achieving a stated goal.

Have you ever heard of the game Mouse Trap? The final assembly, and then action to cage the mouse at the end, is a type of a Rube Goldberg machine.

Just his wife's reaction to the whole building of it. My wife would be most "pleased."

Impressive, as was the camera work required to keep up with it all.

I could happily watch this sort of clever production and waste an hour at it easily!

This reminds me of a BBC program a few years back called "The Great EGG Race". Which was a smaller version.
