Funnily enough it feels like longer but even so it feels like yesterday , one of the best games ever created is free to own until the 18th.

Episodes One and Two are in the box. Half-Life 2 now includes the complete Episode One and Episode Two expansions along with the base game. They’re accessible from the main menu, and you will automatically advance to the next expansion after completing each one.
Developers Commentary for Half-Life 2. While the Episodes have always had commentary tracks, the base game never did... until now. We got the team back to record three and a half hours of new behind-the-scenes commentary for Half-Life 2.
Integrated Steam Workshop support. Browse, install, and play user-created content for Half-Life 2 without ever leaving the game. Look for it in the Extras menu!
Bug fixes and new graphics options. Visual pops, missing sprites, and mismatched lighting introduced in updates over the years have been scrubbed away. And we've added some settings to push the visual fidelity of Half-Life 2 farther than was allowed in the original release.

I have HL2 on disk and loved it but never played Episode One or Episode Two , time to go back to 2004.

Thanks for the heads up I’ve long mistplaced my old half life rom I’ll have to pick it up and have a nostalgia play through. Just something about nailing head turkeys to the wall is so satisfying.

Running Half-Life 2 @1440p maxed out running at 144 fps remembering my steam powered Pentium rig of 2004.

And it still looks great.

Ok, I'm a newb when it comes to the Halflife series. What should I know about the backstory before I play?

You play as Gordon Freeman a scientist at the Black Mesa Research Facility where in the first game an experiment causes an explosion which opens inter-dimensional rifts , following the events of HL1 Freeman heads to City 17 to battle the corrupt government and liberate the Citadel from the invaders.

HL2 is widely considered the best First Person Shooter ever made and was one of the first games to use physics as a main game mechanic , it was a revelation in its day and still holds up today with a steam rating of Overwhelmingly Positive from 208,805 player reviews.

Owners of NVidia RTX graphics cards will be getting another free update that brings Ray Tracing and further updated textures to the game to enhance the wonder.
