Comcast dumping MSNBC

Looks like Comcast is going to dump MSNBC (among other cable entities). The ratings blood loss at MSNBC has been epic the past few days since the elections, and now this. Comcast has been contemplating this move for a while, but the burner just got turned to "high" since the elections. Looks like Oprah's Oxygen network is on the block too (among others).

Now, initially it looks like the first step is to just make these networks a separate bundle from Comcast, but still owned by Comcast shareholders. This way, they have to stand on their own financially and decisions can be made for them separately. Also lets those networks bleed without bringing Comcast core stocks down with them. (Likely also because these networks are probably only worth pennies on the dollar right now due to their political biases and bent.).

It's one of the first signs of the market reacting to the negative effects of media bias and public opinion. Perhaps proof that we, as a society, should let the market govern the free speech discussion, and not demand legislation to do it. The other day there was a post here exploring the idea of regulating speech content in the media, and this was met with stiff opposition. Here's a good example of why.

And for some fun "Brain Candy"...what if Musk picked up MSNBC and CNBC, and did the same thing he did with Twitter (now 'X')? There wouldn't be enough garbage trucks to carry all the heads which would roll. LOL! And just think, wouldn't it be glorious to see something like..."Introducing the new Objective Journalism Network (formerly known as MSNBC)"???? LOL...that would be awesome!

Getting to used to winning at this point. Hell, Maddow gets paid 30 million a year I hear for one hour of work per week. That might make her the highest paid "journalist" in existence.

To this day, I have never understood any of her allure to anyone.

Really? It hates Trump. It consistently and always hates Trump. Its message is clear; it hates Trump with every fiber of its being (whatever type of being that is).

It is secretly angry that Trump has consistently refused to impregnate it with dozens of Mini-MAGA Mutants.

"Objective journalism", as in, unbiased or without any agenda at all (and thus neither pushing right- nor left-wing political propaganda, nor endorsing any presidential candidate or political party), is probably a myth.

At least I've never encountered it (or a truly "neutral" source) amongst mainstream news networks such as Fox News or CNN, or so-called "alternative news" media for that matter (including pundits such as Glenn Beck, Alex Jones, Piers Morgan, Jordan B. Peterson, Joe Rogan or sources such as The Young Turks, Democracy Now!, Russia Today, now called RT, Corbettreport, and so on).

Great point! Joe Biden said a bunch of liberals don't know how to use the internet. He was right about a lot of things...he just said them in a funny/strange way.

One of my adult children has decided not to attend the big Thanksgiving Dinner at my wife's relative's home this year, because most of the 30 or so people there are rabid Liberals who are also rabid Christians. That blows his mind, so he doesn't want to be around them.

That's too bad. They could have watched football or played card games or better yet reminisce about their shared experiences. Well, I guess that is the point of the OP- MSNBC has contributed to this way of thinking. Family should have other things in common that allow them to see past who they voted for.

You should tell your son to go. He should listen and try to be empathetic.
Or if possible, just try to avoid politics and focus on something else.

His side "won" and now has most of the power, so he could show a little kindness.
Show them what true diversity and respect looks like.

Everyone should remember that the votes were not THAT far apart. Four years go by very quickly.

It's going to almost be impossible to get more voters on "your side" (whatever that is) if you start insulting and shunning people.
