I still think of this as more of an extended movie than a television series, 10 episodes and about as good as television gets.

It's currently playing on the streaming service Max and it's a must watch.

Band of Brothers released in 2001.

Give that super hero crap a rest, and watch a very realistic dramatization of some real heroes.

Next to the opening scene form Saving Private Ryan, both done with Spielberg and Tom Hanks, this series was said to have made those that were actually there feel as if they were again.

As there almost always will be, there are some historical discrepancies in the series but the overall message and the story it tells will remain a staple in HBO history for many lifetimes.

This will forever be one of my favorite series of all time. I have the box set, DVD and VHS, and get a wild hair about twice a year to watch while I sit on my couch with my M1 Garand.

Love this series! I watch it once a year on Blu-Ray. The Pacific was a decent follow up but not as good. Master of the Air was disappointing.

Agreed on all points...The Pacific was above average but didnt achieve the same legendary epicness of band of brothers. I have heard a good few stories from my grandfathers time in theater there and they did get a lot right with The Pacific like they did with BoB...especially the sentiment of the soldiers in regards to both how s#&%y it was to fight in the tropics, as well as the attitude towards the Japanese soldiers.
