The Final Experiment is scheduled for December 2024. Will it finally answer the question about the shape of the Earth?

The whole idea of the Final experiment is to do just that, and while I wish it was so, I must once again refer to Betteridge's law of headlines, the adage that states: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no." I will explain why I don't think it will answer the question in a bit, but for now, let me explain the final experiment for anybody who isn't familiar with it.

Most if not all flat earthers say that it's impossible for there to be a 24 hour sun in Antarctica on a flat earth, it would have to set like anywhere else on earth according to the flat earth "model" (and I'm using the term "model" very loosely here because it's not self-consistent). Flat earthers say the globers all tell us there is a 24 hour sun in Antarctica in December, but they are all in on the conspiracy, so you can't believe them, and it's impossible to go to Antarctica to see the sun isn't really shining for 24 hours a day.

The final experiment is an endeavor to send (as it stands right now) two flat earthers, one glober, and the project sponsor to Antarctica to see if we are all being lied to or not. The project sponsor is paying all expenses for those 4 people. Others are also invited to go along, provided they pay their own way, and it looks like there will probably be 2 more people who have crowdfunding set up to raise the money to go.

The plan is to travel to about the Southern tip of South America, the final stop before Antarctica. Then everybody can pull out their compasses to see that they will be flying approximately south for the next 4 hours, to get to Antarctica. Then everybody can set up their or video recordings, they will be there for I think 5 days so even if it's cloudy somewhat, they should have at least one clear 24 hour period during those 5 days. If we watch the video and see the sun actually setting, the dam global conspirators who have been fooling us globers for all these years will finally be exposed for the frauds they might be, if they are lying to us. Or, if they are telling us the truth, maybe they will actually see a 24 hour sun. Actually, some people have already made videos of the 24 hours sun in Antarctica, but they are globers, not flat earthers, so the flat earthers say they can't be trusted, if they are in on the conspiracy.

Now, why did I say I don't think it will resolve the flat earth issue? Several reasons.
1. When Eratosthenes measured the size of the globe earth thousands of years ago, he did it using a fairly simple method that anybody with a mode of transportation (car or horse or whatever) and some simple tools like a straight pole, a plumb bob, and some measuring tape and simple math skills can duplicate. I have never heard any flat earther explain how Eratosthenes could get the results he did measuring the size of the globe earth, on a flat earth. So for anybody who wants to look it up, Eratosthenes already answered the question thousands of years ago, unless you know of a flat earth explanation for that which I don't.

2. While flat earthers were adamant that a 24 hour sun must prove the earth is not flat, we have seen some of them backtracking on that claim since the final experiment was proposed. Apparently they are now afraid they might actually see a 24 hour sun, since they are moving the goal posts like "well maybe NASA will create an artificial sun in the sky to fool us, that never sets". This is why I don't think the final experiment will kill flat earth, because one can make up increasingly complicated conspiracies to try to deny reality. I mean maybe it's actually easier for NASA to put a space station in orbit, than to create an artificial sun in the sky that has to put out an enormous amount of energy to simulate the real sun?

The intent of the final experiment's sponsor, Will Duffy, is quite honorable, which is to stop wasting so many human resources on both sides of the flat earth versus globe "debate", and to put that issue to bed, so all those people and their many followers, can instead dedicate their energies to more fruitful endeavors, that might actually benefit mankind. I admire the goal a lot, but I think it underestimated the abilities of conspiracists to deny any reality by coming up with yet more conspiracies, and we are seeing some of that already.

Here are links to the Final Experiment website and some frequently asked questions.

If you want to see actual videos of flat earthers saying a 24 hour sun would disprove flat earth before the final experiment was proposed, and then moving the goalposts by saying it wouldn't disprove the flat earth because (insert some wild additional conspiracy here, like NASA making an artificial sun), then watch the videos below. The globers have heard the artificial sun hypothesis, and they suggested bringing a camera with a telephoto lens and sun filter to photograph the sun, and see if the sunspots match other photos of the sun's sunspots. But if NASA can make an artificial sun (which sounds really hard if not impossible), couldn't they also make artificial sunspots?

Here are some videos that go into more depth, explaining the experiment (actually it's an observation), and showing the reaction of flat earthers. One good thing: near the end of the second video, one flat earther converted to glober when the flat earther he was following didn't want to go to Antarctica all expenses paid, to see if his own claim was true or not. So, it's already had some effect, even though they haven't gone to Antarctica yet.

The guy in the second video is the glober who is going on The Final Experiment expedition.

Doesn't matter. The ones going to the South Pole will be delt with. Any evidence will be dismissed by claiming they were brainwashed by the CIA or cloned by some government agency. Ether would be easier than faking another Sun for them to see. Compared to that, any video evidence they return with can be easily faked as they will claim.

A rock will believe only what it chooses to believe. It would be easier to explain card tricks to a dog.

With Flat Earthers it really doesn't matter what proof you show them, they will always find a way to dismiss it. I don't know why anyone would waste their time and money trying to convince them.

I publicly challenge any Flat Earther to take me to the edge.

Flat earth theory is a psyops. It’s an experiment to see how far you can go to make people believe something that obviously isn’t true.
