This does not sound good at all, moving the B-52s is usually a last resort is it not

x.com...

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin has ordered the deployment of several additional Arleigh Burke-Class Guided-Missile Destroyers specializing in Ballistic Missile Defense, Fighter Squadrons, Tanker Aircraft, as well as B-52 Strategic Bombers to the Middle East; as Tensions with Iran continue to Increase, and the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and her Carrier Strike Group prepare to depart soon from the Region.

The 2-5 B-52s being deployed from Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana won’t be deployed to the Middle East, instead they will likely be stationed on Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean.

I worked the buff for 5 years, she is usually sent when they want to send a message.

will it work, I dont know think it depends on who wins the election.

Heard a blurb on talk radio that some folks think Iran is holding back till we have a clue about the election so they know the risk.

I sure as F*ck don't want any kids dying for a political manuver. Timing is gargantuanly suspect, as is the group involved.

Let's hope this can sort itself out the easy way.

Israeli intelligence said they believe Iran will strike from Iraq before the election.

Could be moving assets to try and deter them.

The BUFFs are probably going to be carrying a sh#load of standoff cruise missiles. Only a couple of hours flight time from Diego Garcia to a launch point where they could hit any target in Iran without getting close to any Iranian air defense.

from your first link, there's a significant difference in flying them out of their home base in North Dakota for posturing and putting them in Diego Garcia. Not to mention several is more than the pair mentioned in the flyby

Flight-tracking data showed the two B-52s flew out of Minot Air Base in North Dakota, something Central Command did not mention in its statement on the flights though authorities later published images of the flight crew preparing its departure there.

Aircraft from Minot are heading east now. They met SKATR flight off the east coast to refuel, before continuing on. They'll meet RAKE flight out of Rota near Gibraltar. They should recover to Diego Garcia. Looks like two aircraft to begin with. We'll probably see another two in the next couple of days.

At the same time Barksdale will be sending 3-4 aircraft to RAF Fairford as part of a routine Bomber Task Force mission, where they'll stay 4-6 weeks flying around Europe and training with various allied nations.
