Shifting Threats: U.S. Marine Corps Commercial
This recruitment video seems to reveal some rather futuristic technology, or are they recruiting Marines to play video games? There seems to be force fields, birds that turn into drones, huge structures that burst forth from the sea. IDK

What do you think of this recruitment video for the US Marines? Is this a new technology they're revealing?
What do you guys think, is this battlefield tech, or just fancy GCI to get gamers to enlist?

What do you think of this recruitment video for the US Marines?

What we have here is a case of shifting recruitment slogans.

Just based on the their Youtube home page: www.youtube.com...@marinecorps/featured I would guess something like this:

Inside the Battle: Battle Tactics was Apr 12, 2021 slogan. That was geared for gamers.
Shifting Threats was the October 2022 slogan.
Fit to Win seems to be current slogan.

all branches change their recruitment ads, they don't show anything that hasn't already been seen.
all the new smart stuff is kept hidden up until it's needed and then they don't always acknowledge that they have tech that advanced.

First scene is kind of scary, it says, "the future, blah blah blah" and then you see an entire city crumbling in the background.

I don’t think we’re quite there yet.

But soon.

Check out this bird drone..

I always figured we've had technically advanced underwater and underground bases, but I didn't expect them to come exploding out of the ground and sea, lol. I figure we have bases on the moon, mars and probably in orbit, but I didn't expect birds to turn into drones.

Now I'm gonna be on the lookout for birds that flap their wings way too much!

Idk. I’m an Army vet that has served in OIF and actually been in combat. All i see here is Marines doing what they do best… being poster boys for the military. The US military now days is becoming understaffed. So they’re going to make unrealistic ads to convince those who aren't yet “woke” to join them or another branch by glorifying combat missions.
Thats my personal take from the ad.

More evidence that birds aren't real.

They aren't fooling anyone.

The military is probably changing recruiting tactics since the recent commercials like the little girl raised by two lesbian moms didn't cut it.

Much like Busch light advertising, they need to focus on their biggest demographic. Young straight men.
That's not a slight on lesbians or any other groups, it's just a numbers game.

This futuristic look at military equipment is right up the alley of young video game age men so it makes perfect sense even if these systems are just fantasy today.

As a former member of the USMC, I think it's great they're mixing it up with their recruitment ads.

The current and future battlefields demand weapons and tech that wasn't even dreamed of when I served.

Semper Fi!

Nothing special, it’s just keeping up with the times with kids these days. Way better than that “Army of One” we used to make fun of Army, and still do.

Given the high-and usually impossible tech young men see today in movies and games, why would they want to dither with WWII stuff?

You gotta go where your market resides if you have something to sell, and BS at all levels is fine today, after, there are aliens waiting their turn to be featured. --Oh, wait, that already done with Starship Troopers.

Just like how you seen Ai artifacts that’s didn’t exist in trump rally photos.

You also are seeing things that just arnt in the video, being disingenuous or you really are a very and I mean very obtuse person.

Literally nothing mentioned in the op is in the video.

Its transitional editing so you have something to see on screen instead of just a bird or a ship or a mountain.

Come on guys….really…they are showing the land morphing…the ever changing land scapes of war.

The birds were clearly shown as none drones then when the marines determined what the threat was drones….

Nothing poped up out of the sea…that’s a battle ship. A regular run of the mill ww2 battle ship.

I agree with other posters they are trying to target a certain audience. But as for the future tech others have seen I seen literally zero. Nothing. I did see transition effects like how people would do little PowerPoint tear away effects when they change the page. That’s what happening here but pretty and for the military.

It look like building crumble and tropic forest growing is symbolic of changing scenario. Look, mountain with snow break through forest, then it is arctic region.

It is metaphor.

It's not me, so it must be you.

Titled “Shifting Threats,” the commercial plays on the motif of a shifting landscape with Marine forces and transforming threats, like a flock of crows that shapeshifts into a swarm of enemy drones.
