Former US Rep George Santos pleads guilty to wire fraud and identity theft in his federal case

CENTRAL ISLIP, N.Y. (AP) — Former U.S. Rep. George Santos pleaded guilty Monday to wire fraud and aggravated identity theft, short-circuiting the federal fraud case that led to his expulsion from Congress just weeks before it was set to go to trial.

“I betrayed the trust of my constituents and supporters. I deeply regret my conduct,” the New York Republican said as he entered the plea in a Long Island courtroom.

Smart move on his part. Just based off the evidence that's public, there was no way he was going to beat this case.

Now we wait until February to see if he'll be getting jail time.

Just another attempt to cover his butt. He LIED to the very end, exhibiting probably the purest form of a politician I've seen in awhile. He just wasn't good at it.

I still maintain he never expected to win. He planned on using the campaign to funnel money to himself and then when he lost he'd change his name and disappear into obscurity like he'd done before.

No one should die for something like that, but I am for increased punishment for those who break the law while in service to the public.

Probably not, considering their government funded public education. Most of the kids from prestigious collages thought Bernie Sanders should have been POTUS and are now behind Kamal-because they've been raised on the propaganda koolaide from kindergarten on and she's not Trump.
