The Nazi Films About Ireland

So, heres the best ten minutes of your day today.

Apparently Goebbels was deadly serious about trying to show propaganda about the Irish and our distaste for the English.
So he made a couple of films about us.

Who he was hoping to recruit with these ive no idea, im sure he said so in the video. Ive been laughing the last ten minutes

Some explosive shenanigans going on in that for sure

Oh yes i did ya complete drug riddled psycho

Hilarious.
It obviously worked; approximately 70,000 Irish citizens signed up to fight in the British Armed Forces during WWII.
As far as I can make out about 4 or 5 signed up to fight for The Nazi's.

The UK made sure that RoI was supplied with fuel and food during WWII.
The Allies were allowed to fly in Irish air space.
RAF airmen downed over Ireland were repatriated, Nazi airmen were interned.

Its generally accepted that Ireland shared intelligence with their British counterparts.

I'm sure I once read that De Valera and Churchill had an agreement that if Germany ever invaded RoI then The Allies would be free to oppose them via Ulster.

But sure, everyone tells us that the Irish and English hate each other.
We are intrinsically connected in so many ways.....we have far, far more in common than there is that divides us.

Yep absolutely spot on there with that last paragraph mate.

There'll always be the haters, the dividers, the ignorant. Sure i was one growing up as a kid, on into my mid to late 20's.

Chasing the Republican dream if you like, that we're fighting the british army and police. We were an army fighting another army, we believed. We were to a certain degree, but there was hatred, evil in some, running through our veins. Some seriously scary m'#ers

Both sides had their detractors. But you're right. We have far, far more in common, for the good, than division.
And its great being at peace now.
A lot of people growing up now will never go through the horrors that we did. And thats a great thing, fantastic.
Long may it continue.

Slainte a chara
