Here's a little comparison of insulin prices worldwide:
Cost of Insulin by Country 2024
... and in New Zealand, insulin is fully funded by the government, so patients get it for free. I'm fairly sure the same is true in many other countries.
Medicine of all types is a gouge-fest in the USA.
Yeah People here wonder why Biden and Democrats didn't cut Insulin down to zero$ 😬
He didn't cut it down to zero because that would be Communism, and everyone here on ATS knows that Communism is evil..
Well many low income seniors and many Medicaid patients already get many medications at $0.00. So what was your knee jerky micromanaged eye blinky point again? 😃

So I'm just asking, is it OK to have a little Communism/Socialism creeping in around the edges

The Trump Drug Rebate Rule Would Have Saved Seniors Billions.
“So, the patients are going to be now getting the benefit, instead of these very wealthy individuals,” Trump said at the time.
“Today’s action ends this injustice and requires that these discounts go directly to the people. These are the people that need it.”
Biden Repealed It and Gave Billions to China EVs.

Before Joe Biden and his Democrat friends could cheat him into the White House, U.S. President Donald Trump was able implement a program that kept Insulin costs capped at $35 for Seniors (and others) on Medicare.

May 26, 2020: Today, under President Trump’s leadership, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced that over 1,750 standalone Medicare Part D prescription drug plans and Medicare Advantage plans with prescription drug coverage, have applied to offer lower insulin costs through the Part D Senior Savings Model for the 2021 plan year.
Across the nation, participating enhanced Part D prescription drug plans will provide Medicare beneficiaries access to a broad set of insulins at a maximum $35 copay for a month’s supply.
The model follows on the Trump Administration’s previously announced 13.5 percent decline in the average monthly Prescriptions Part-D premium since 2017, to the lowest level in seven years.
Fast Forward to 2024 and we find a desperate President Joe Biden (Only 3 in 10 Americans like him) grasping at anything and everything he thinks will help him be re-elected in November. Panic mode Joe is now taking credit for successful MAGA quality-of-life improvements, delivered by the President Donald Trump administration.

April 21, 2024: WASHINGTON (AP) — Rarely a day goes without President Joe Biden mentioning insulin prices.
He promotes a $35 price cap for the medication for Americans on Medicare — in White House speeches, campaign stops and even at non-health care events around the country.
His reelection team has flooded swing-state airwaves with ads mentioning it, in English and Spanish.
It's painful to visualize America with a President who, on his own or with his cabinet, can't put together enough successes to help him be re-elected by satisfied Americans. But that's Joe Biden is at this point, with less than 5 months to go before ELECTION DAY. (Nov 5th)
I wonder what President Biden will (wrongly) take credit for next?
