So I just got back from taking a break from work and studies on the patio and some songs from the 1980's comedy Real Genius started playing on my music player and I was inspired to make a fan thread for fans of the film and lighthearted comedies with a serious morality lesson as well.

Any fans of the film?

Any fans of the Soundtrack?

If so, feel free to post your favorite clips, memories and soundbytes here even if they're not on the official sountrack in support of this film!

Hey ho let's go!

This thread is so I don't go all :

Poly Sci and Current Events isn't my forte right now, and I'm trying to destress from the news media overload of current issues.

If you're just taking a passing glance and think the movie is funny, toss up a quick HELL YEAH BROTHER or a quick star to show your support for working class kids trying to keep up with all the modern cirriculum requirements for online studies as part of the unofficial Keep America Great Again initiative in these trying times with these compicated intergenerational dynamics for folks that don't fit in to traditional University Environments.

We're on your side, believe it or not, it's just a generational schism.

Love from a Gen X Kid.

Girls gonna be girls.

And for the guys, Bud Light, Corona, Dos Equis, Gunniess and a wealth of various microbrews in the cooler.

There's a secret menu but it's a secret.

Sorry.

You need the password.

YES! I remember this being on HBO (along with Spies Like Us) all the time when I was 11-12 yrs old. Love this movie. Pretty underrated 80’s comedy if you ask me.

I love RG... I watch it every time it's on.

I wish Deborah Foreman had more of a role in it. hubba hubba....

Speaking of... have you seen her in My Chauffeur? Another great 80's flick.

Afraid I'm not familiar with that one, but it brought to mind Driving Miss Daisy for some reason.

Which calls to mind Shawshank Redemption and Robin Hood Prince of Theives.

I don't go Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon but I start free associating sometimes.

Speaking of which, Tremors is another classic from my youth.

I did the Bacon thing again anyway.

Whoops.

I think that was the 60's, but I was born in 1974 so I have clear memories of being around 8 or so when everyone was glued to the tube watching the V miniseries, the first broadcast of MTV and Michael Jacksons Thriller went straight to the top, Ghostbusters, Madonna, Corey Heart Sunglasses At Night, Amadeus on stage and film, E.T., Neil Diamond, ABBA, Cheech and Chong, Take This Job and Shove It, Smokey and the Bandit, National Lampoons Vaction, Battlestar Galactica, Fantasy Island, Elvira Mistress of the Dark...Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi...Airplane (1 and 2)..Threes Company, Bosom Buddies, Archie Bunker, Good Times, Welcome Back Kotter, WKRP in CInncinatti...

I'm just a wee bit older than you dear, but 80's movies are my go too. Although I don't remember much of Real Genius, so I will happily go watch it again.

Goonies!!!!
Breakfast Club.
OMG, Footloose!!!! (speaking of the Bacon)
Harry and the Hendersons (just had my grandsons watch that! They loved it)
Back to the future
Romancing the stone.....

Really, I have to think, with all the amazing movies, that was when hollywood still had original ideas.

Oh I LOVE all the ones you listed too!

Absolutely classic!

I also love the Silver Screen Era and Desk Set with Miss Hepburn.

The 1940's hold a special place in my heart.

Truely the Greatest Generation imho.

(at least in recent history)

I also love Jules Verne and the Steampunk Revolution!

There's a Disney Animator (old school) working on a handdrawn animation called Hulabaloo dealing with Steampunk themes.

I need to check up on how it's going!

Thanks for reminding me, and btw Harry and the Hendersons is wonderful!

I cried Happy Tears at the ending.
