Hence how can their decades-old policies be responsible for the current immigration problems the nation faces?

It just does not make sense to blame anyone other than those in control and that's the Tories.

Labour won't do any better all the same but the current blame is at the feet of Rishi Sunak's administration.

Very true...but so does 'Rightist' policy too.
Bear in mind legal and illegal immigration has gone up under the Conservative government and many police Commissioners and policy makers are right-wing inclined.

But UK culture has been enhanced by many relatively recent influxes of immigrants; Afro-Caribbean and Sikhs/Hindu's etc spring to mind.
The problem with these grooming gangs is the people involved tend to originate from two or three specific regions in the Middle East who contribute very little to society, have no intention whatsoever of integrating, who view females as little better than chattel and who are intent on turning this country into a replica of the #holes they have come from.

It seems that the British are enduring the same slow multi party policy creep that we are over here.

You are also correct that there is nothing wrong with controlled immigration.

I’d be a hypocrite to say otherwise as I’m an immigrant myself.

Like I said in another thread, I still love bangers and mash. I just don’t expect it to be on the menu.

I suppose the world is a tad more complex an affair than the right vs left mentality we tend to fall back on or assume to be the only colour of the day.

She's worthy of a thread all on her own.
As soon as her name crops up in any thread its very easy for it to get derailed.

She certainly evokes strong passions in people; some view her as the definitive Iron Lady and with admiration - for some it borders on Idolisation - and then for others like you and I we have an intense dislike of her - for some it is literally pure hatred.

But for all my dislike of her and the majority of her policies I do have a certain admiration for her strength of character and her strong leadership - oh how we could do with some of that at present.

No-one can deny she changed both the face of British politics and society in general.....its incredibly sad that we are still paying the price for some of those policies even today.

I can see where you are coming from Freeborn.

And what you say may well possibly be correct.

I just cannot have any sort of admiration for Thatcher.

It would stick in my craw buddy.

People died because of her and she destroyed lives and families across the board.

She helped consign an entire generation of people to the scrap heap.

Could we be doing with some of her iron will where the likes of our immigration issues are concerned, probably.

However, she would not stop with the immigrants.

She would smash the rest of the poverty-stricken masses into the ground and milk us even dryer for another decade whilst the rich get richer at the expense of everyone else.
