I hope some of you can find it in your hearts to raise a glass, or a can, and celebrate something.

Presidents' day

Presidents' Day, officially Washington's Birthday at the federal governmental level, is a holiday in the United States celebrated on the third Monday of February.

It is often celebrated to honor all those who served as presidents of the United States and, since 1879, has been the federal holiday honoring Founding Father George Washington, who led the Continental Army to victory in the American Revolutionary War, presided at the Constitutional Convention of 1787, and was the first U.S. president.

Your current Biddy is probably celebrating himself in a mirror with a sippy cup of "Faygo".

I only noticed this event because of what the stock market isn't doing today.

Federal employees at home enjoying their holiday:

If George Washington was alive today, he certainly wouldn't be raising a glass or celebrating.

Meh.

But one of the national radio shows had interesting facts this morning about presidents.

Which one was on the cover of Cosmopolitan Magazine? (He was actually a model)
Gerald Ford
(Actually shares my birthday)

Which president married his 5th cousin, once removed? (seems like they are reaching for something weird on this one)
Franklin Roosevelt.

What did the S stand for in Harry S Truman?
Nothing.

These holidays are just excuses for our elected and taxpayer funded politicians to take vacations. The US House built a 2-week vacation for themselves around President's Day.

When I was a kid we had Lincolns Birthday and Washingtons Birthday.
They got morphed into 'Presidents Day'.
I don't think we should have a holiday for politicians.
I'd like to see it removed from the calendar.

At the time middle names were not a big thing. My grandfather had B. assigned to him as a middle name in WWII.
Interesting trivia

May I suggest plinths whilst you celebrate your leaders?

It makes piling the wood up easier!

Just joking, I hope nobody abuses statues today

I thought the Left says George Washington was a racist.
I'm chopping down a cherry tree in protest.

In celebration of the rights and freedoms our current and former presidents have defended for us, and the improved quality of life, I'll raise a finger.

My grandfather had five names - John Dewey William McKinley Wright. And although Presidents Day wasn't a thing before he died, he probably would've celebrated it or any other holiday that would have involved drinking a toast to something. My grandmother divorced him because he was an alcoholic. He died at 58 years old before I was born, so I never got to meet him.

Yeah, I remember in 1st grade being taught about that ... Washington chopping down a cherry tree then admitting to doing it .. so we were all supposed to be like him and not lie.

But then later in life I found out the cherry tree story was a lie that was told to little kids in order to make them not lie.

UGH.

Well played, sir.
You leave me no choice.
Be prepared to hear me swear that you and two MAGA Nigerian body builders tried to lynch me when I went out to Subway at 3 am.
