Why do Trump supporters have such a hard time understanding the facts around the insurrection disqualification issue?

For the same reason you can't provide the facts......

t does not, I repeat NOT, require conviction of criminal insurrection. I

Don't you tire from being wrong?

It's quite literally a criminal statute passed by congress in line with section 5 of the very same 14th amendment.

But don't let that stop you from spewing moronic tripe...

Denying people the right or ability to vote whom they wish is, actually, an insurrection.

How about paying people bail in order for them to resume obstructing the functions of government?

Just curious.

arguing that it was clear Trump engaged in insurrection in the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol.

Being a judge and expert on the law you'd ecpect him to wait until Trump was convictedof 'insurection' before calling for such measures.
When judges and lawyers start playing the guilty until proven innocent card you know the legal system is no longer legal.

Has the melee that occurred on 1/6/2021 been OFFICIALLY declared an "insurrection" by Congress? Since Congress was the target of the protest, they are the ones who will, or will not, put the word "Insurrection" in the official description, aren't they?

In a rare display of common sense, the Illinois election board has unanimously decided to keep Donald Trump on the November ballot.

They are doing what he other states did and all coming together to say they will defer till the SCOTUS decision.

To me this is one of the biggest case the SCOTUS has ever ruled on.

Ruling on if a President has IMMUNITY could be HUGE also. If they stick with tradition, Trump is cleared of a lot of indictments. But there could be "carve outs", which would be very explosive! More about this in the "immunity' thread tonight.

Former/Next President Trump comments on Illinois's decision...

“Thank you to the Illinois State Board of Elections for ruling 8-0 in protecting the Citizens of our Country from the Radical Left Lunatics who are trying to destroy it,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

“The VOTE was 8-0 in favor of keeping your favorite President (ME!), on the Ballot. I love Illinois. Make America Great Again!” the GOP front-runner in this year’s presidential race concluded.
