Nicknamed "the ace with a base" Phil Lynott was to my mind one of the greatest singer , songwriter , musicians these British Isles ever did produce , I was heartbroken when news broke of his death and over these years his Star has stayed bright with me , there are many great singers in this world but only the few have the ability to hold an audience in the palm of their hands right through a show and Phil was one of the best at that , we loved him.

Phil died at the age of 36 , his Demons proved to strong and took him away but they can't take away the memories or his legacy , that is set in Rock history.

RiP Phil.

Yes. Saw them a few times. RIP Gary Moore, too.

Saw him with Greg Lake at Uni. Helped with the roadying.

Should have seen his guitar 🎸 tech's face when he held his vintage Strat above his head before dropping it.

He really hated him doing that.

I saw them when they opened for Queen in 76. They put on the best show ever. I think Freddie adopted some of Phi's acts on stage after that. RIP Phil and Freddie.

It was one of the best ever. It only cost $7.50 for the ticket, what a bargain.

Randy Rhoads and Eddie VH RIP, too.

For my money, RR was right up there as a guitarist.

Saw him in Blizzard of Ozz at Canterbury. Ozzie seemed a bit worse for wear. Came on and shouted 'Hello Hamburg!"

Eddie VanHalen was awesome. You can't take away from his talent, but he had about 15 albums and 40 more years on Randy Rhoads. And they still argue Randy as the best ever. Eddie may have finished better but Randy would have been better with another 40 years

Agreed. Saw VH support Sabbath after they'd released their Eruption album. Blew me away. Sabbath, too. When they came on they looked awed!

You're not a Yes fan, by any chance?

Many memories of gigs at the old Hammersmith Odeon. Sammy Hagar, UFO, BOC and the rest.

Santana played about an hour of Led Zeppelin as an encore.

Then there was the Marquee Club.

ZZ Top played a secret gig there as "A Little Ole Band from Texas".

Happy days.

This has always been one of my favorite Thin Lizzy tunes.

How did I guess?!!!

Am a Yes fan too. Saw them when Rick Wakeman ate an Indian takeaway during the solos.

Even when not doing that hard rock thing they can still crush it!!

This is one of my favorites. It has a groove and attitude but it is not loud.

My friend said that while lying in bed dying (he had been shooting H between his toes to hide his addiction), he was visited by his mum. He broke down and said, “Ah, Jayzus! What have I done to you mom?”

Miss you man! RIP

Apparently Thin Lizzy toured the US with Queen, I think around 1977 (with Queen being the opening act).

Flip that must have rocked so hard!

Makes me wish for a time-machine.
