Michigan authorities are investigating a fatal house explosion that happened in Whitmore Lake on Saturday. FOX 2 Detroit reported that the explosion took place on Winters Lane. Police have not released the number of fatalities, but Huron Valley Ambulance spokesperson Marc Breckenridge told MLive Media Group that four people were found dead. Two others were seriously injured and taken to a hospital in critical condition, the official said. "(Firefighters) are being very meticulous about making sure there are no additional people to rescue inside the residence," Breckenridge explained.he exposed basement of the destroyed house was visible, along with wrecked vehicles.Fox News Digital reached out to Northfield Township Police Department for more information, but has not heard back.

This is Very much a Developing story at the moment but Wow that house is Flattened . Check out the aerial view the Debris are spread almost symmetrically in all four directions . Making me think the explosion was concentrated directly in the center of the home .

No idea who the three people killed are .

Of course the first thing to mind is " Gas Explosion " ... I mean what else could it be cough ' cough ' a Drone
.

Explain why someone would be using a drone on a house out in the boondocks .....??

Unfortunate gas leaks and explosions are too common and occurrence

I think natural gas knocks you out? That could be what happened here. I wonder what the SPARK was that ignited the gas, if everyone was knocked out?

How the hell am I supposed to know ? I'm just tiptoeing out on a limb here mate .

Gas Explosion is the only possible explanation right ? I mean look at that place.... It's destroyed down past the fu*king foundation into the basement small bits of the house in every direction .

It would take days for Gas to fill every square inch of that place and we are talking without a pilot light sparking early and causing a small explosion .

But hey what do I know ?

Apparently never seen structure destroyed in a gas explosion Thats what it looks like - everything is reduced to small pieces down to the foundation

Doesnt take long for a space to fill up with explosive mixture from furnace or water heater after pilot light goes out

We had 3 serious leaks last week from idiotic construction crew which didnt properly mark the lines before digging

Fortunate no fires or explosions

Doesn't look like an NG gas explosion to me, more like someone making plastique or bomb making that goofed. NG tanks are always further away from homes. Furnaces don't blow up houses to often, they just burn the house down.

My first thought was meth lab explosion, but looking at the pics Im leaning more to gas explosion.

Natural gas is heavier than air, and would collect at the lowest point, slowly filling until either reaching an exit point (such as a vent), or an ignition source.

If there was a basement, it would have made an excellent "well" in which the gas could accumulate, undetected. Especially if the basement was not a regularly used living space.

Additionally, since basements are often below grade (partially or completely below the surrounding ground level), the surrounding soil, and the often reinforced walls of the basement serve to contain and focus the force of an explosion upward....much as a "shaped charge" would.

Tragic occurrence.

Incorrect Natural gas , mostly methane (CH4) is lighter than air (specific gravity vs air .6) Propane (C3H8) is heavier
than air ( specific gravity 1.5)

you are correct, but natural gas will fill a confined area /room from the top down if enough is released displacing the air.

You're probably right , I mean like I said above what else could it be other than a Gas Explosion.

Meth Lab ? nah Not that large of an explosion no way .
Home Made Explosives ? Maybe but highly Unlikely .

So it had to be gas but to this point the Media and Authorities have yet to release the Cause of the explosion . So perhaps it wasn't Gas ...

Yes it does , to cause an explosion like that yes it does . It would take days from a leaking stove , furnace or whatever to fill that place with enough gas to obliterate that house in such a manner .

Not to mention the people inside would have died long before the explosion from asphyxiation. Which makes me wonder what the coroners report is on cause of death ...

When I was younger one of the houses down the street exploded due to a gas leak. It shot 2x4's into the houses across the street and the only thing left was the masonry of the front steps.

Or it was a drone.
