That’s the first thing that popped into my tiny brain when I saw the headline.

I'm pretty sure that he's still going to prison for a very very long time.

I'm pretty sure you missed the point.

Much like with Epstine and Maxwell the meat and potatoes of all this is being swept away to protect the elite establishment. In the case of Fried, it's already been reported to be mostly democrats. I know it's not a partisan thing, and they are all scummy, but this one instance points to the left mostly.

But for some reason, the left isn't interested in knowing who took big $ from Fried and didn't return it.

or is that not important?

once he looses the election, I would be surprised if he didn't pardon folks like this, and other (Hunter) folks .

And so people can start getting some of their money back after he is sentenced

The indictment accuses Bankman-Fried of having directed at least 300 illegal campaign donations, totaling up to $100 million, to both Democrats and Republicans
They could get some of that money back, if they have the trial, perhaps a 100 million in chump change.

Prosecutors don't allege that any of the recipients of the donations — including several members of Congress — were aware that the donations were in violation of the law. Many members of Congress have vowed to donate contributions they received from Bankman-Fried to charity.

You should have a trial to see if anyone did know. You should also have a trial to get that money back. If are the recipient of stolen money/merchandise. You don't simply get to give it to charity, and all is well. You have to give it back to the actual owner, even if you take a loss.

This is not about protecting Fried but the donors like you said. This is just sickening though that our current government is so openly showing corruption but there are those still defending them.

This guy will get time served. Cannot allow further discovery into this case.

at least you get the point. There are times where I can understand the "making excuses because it's my side" argument, I do it, I think we all do. But when it's like this, it's truly us (non elite) vs. (the scummy establishment). Taking up for the scummy establishment seems like quite the dick move. There were some GOP recipients as well. name them all and amounts. Then we can at least know how much a congressman can be purchased for. (I might even have a coupon)

Why didn't they bring the charges during the first trial? Stinks of dead fish.

You're right. I really didn't consider that at all. I was entirely focused on his inevitable jail time.
