Haven't seen any chat on this yet. Doesn't sound like it was a big fire, but there were some minor injuries. A sergeant and a court officer were taken to the hospital. Judge Engoron and his court staff were evacuated.

Hours after testimony ended in former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud trial, a fire at the courthouse prompted evacuations and led to more than a dozen minor injuries, officials said.

Among those evacuated was Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over the civil fraud case against the former president and his company, according to a person familiar with the matter. Engoron's office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The fire was started by someone who lit some papers aflame and then doused the fire with an extinguisher, according to Office of Court Administration spokesperson Al Baker.

The person is in custody and believed to be a litigant, not a court employee, the person familiar with the matter said. Officials have not yet detailed a possible motive.

No news yet as to who the person arrested is, but it seems it was a litigant, meaning someone involved in a lawsuit.

The fire was started on the fourth floor of the building and three floors had to be evacuated. Trump was not at the courthouse, and so far we don't have any info if this was related to his case.

I want to know what litigant thought this was a good idea, and that it was going to help anyone, in any way.

Not related to Trump from what I read.

But the number of injuries had me curious:

The small fire led to three floors of the courthouse being evacuated, according to a spokesperson for the Office of Court Administration.

The injuries are believed to have been caused due to exposure to the irritants from the fire extinguisher, sources said.

[SNIP]

"Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 4:15 pm today, an individual depressed a fire-extinguisher on the fourth floor at 60 Centre Street to douse a fire he had set to papers," Office of Court Administration spokesperson Al Baker said in a statement. "The New York Fire Department responded. Three floors of the courthouse were evacuated. There are no serious injuries reported. The incident is being investigated and the individual is in custody."

FDNY said it was alerted to the incident with a report of a suspicious odor. The fire extinguisher was discharged and there were fumes.

Some people are allergic to the dry chemical fire extinguishers. Not pleasant of you are but not life threatening. It fills the air and spreads throughout a building. The air tastes bad for hours.

That and panic in a badly designed building is all it takes.

Trump wasn't there and it had nothing to do with him, so why are you and the MSM trying to make it about him ?

Orange.
Fire is orange, Trump is orange.
Orange Fire Bad, Orange Man Bad.

Very simple, even Liberal simpletons can put 2 and 2 together.

It's in the article, man, just read it before getting triggered and upset. It will answer all your questions.

The fire happened as the Trump case was closing. Even though Trump wasn't there, court staff dealing with HIS case had to be evacuated.

If he was there, perhaps this person would have been more careful and wouldn't have started a fire. Maybe it has nothing to do with Trump, but having to evacuate the court staff after Trump has been attacking them all in the media, also indicates that more may be at play here.

No info yet, stay tuned and I'll update you if this was unrelated or if it was a Trump supporter.

I see, it is Trumps fault for not being there in person, because if he was, the fire could have been prevented because everyone would have been more cautious.

Do you even read what you write before you press reply or are you really serious about this?

Maybe it was left progressives that thought Trump got away too cheap and that is why the fire started? I mean, leftist progressives have a history with fire alarms. This made up "maybe" makes more sense than your logic.

You very clearly misunderstood. Allow me to explain.

Trump has been calling for these staff to pretty much be attacked, through his own attacks on them on the media. He then further attacked them for issuing a gag order on him. Then he further attacked when the gag order was temporarily removed, until it was reinstated.

These are the actions and words that could have "inspired" someone to do this.

Trump doesn't have to present for it. He's already done his work on this online.

Hope that makes sense this time around. We'll see what is true when we get more info. AS I said it could be unrelated, but it could also be this.
