For fans of the old one that took place in Korea that was a movie I 10000000000X recommend the new one on Netflix
In the US with real players, real money. That sure changes things.

What a social experiment!!
Without giving out too many spoilers, this one has so much more crying, so much crying.
I guess one thing they got wrong in the movie was true human emotion and how fast people form alliances.
People self segregate very fast.

This one feels a little more hunger gameish to me.

BIG SPOILER read below

I knew NERDS would be in the top 5%, and that is true to life too. The extra good looking, the athletes, the strong, they only go so far.
Sure it’s all flash at first, but in the end Geeks, Freaks, and Nerds rule the world, and I love it!

It was entertaining. I think there could be definite improvements next season. I did like to hear about making it. This doesn't spoil anything, but red light green light took 8 hours to film with the players having to hold positions up to 45 min. Also super dry in the dorms. They were using the provided lubricated condoms as lip balm until they finally provided Vaseline.

I do have a preferred choice for winner. We will see!

Will they be killing the fools one by one by surprise?

That would be a social experiment.

I mean what's the squid games without offing the losers for real?

Now it's just a reality based game show. No one dies. If you love cringe reality TV, this is for you.

I thought the original was amazing and looked forward to the sequel.

I came across it two days ago and clicked it on for an hour.

I was disappointed by the first episode. It was to me a weak rehash of the first episode of red light, green light. I found no suspense in it whatsoever. The original was shocking and this new one was merely a gratuitous repeat with none of the drama of the first.

But I think my main reason for not continuing with it was the contestants in season two. In season one, the people were hooked by their desperation in life. They had little choice but to give it a try. As well, in the first, they were all taken aghast by the ferocity of the games, they had not known what to expect in an existential sense. It was the fear of death that spurred them on, more than the prize.

This one though I noticed none of that. Here, the people seemed to be not phased at all that others were dying around them. There was no shock, no horror, it's like the fear did not play into their being there at all. It seemed to me that all of them were divorced from reality from the pop nature of the games.

At that point I decided not to continue with it and just remember how good the original was. But if you say, ah, Terry, give it another try, I think I will. So what do you think?

I don’t want to spoil anyone’s entertainment here but I have a question…
If you knew that this ‘reality show’ was 100% planned and the outcomes scripted would it detract from your experience?

No and I did wonder if it was all acting. If so some of the people are amazing actors!!

The actual Season 2 of Squid Games is to begin filming soon.

This version the Squid Game Challenge is casting for another season right now.

They did hype this up as season 2, but it's a separate reality game version.

The "new Squid Game?" How about the "real Squid Game?"

Thanks for that info. Here's hoping that the version you say will soon film is a good as the first series.

Surely there have been some staged moments and coaching conversations between players. That's known. But, if the winner was determined from the start, that would indeed ruin it. It seems like that'd be against the law somehow. Weren't there laws passed in the 60's after that game show scandal.

Thus far, I've enjoyed the reality version. It's been interesting to me how the they've done the player bios. Some players had their bio aired and didn't make it past the first game. Some have made it very far in the game, and got there with little to no previous coverage of their stories.

Looking forward to the final 3 show.

I started watching it but after a few episodes I couldn't finish the season. It's so drawn out and cringe. The random sending people home for no reason was dumb. The back stories of contestants was played out and tiresome in 5 minutes. The knowledge of the reality of shooting and the actual games makes it a different game than what's shown.

It's just bad. I didn't like it. If you find enjoyment from it, then more power to you. I find it to be a poorly executed money grab that's too little (in substance) and too late (from the sensation of Squid Game the hit show).

The sets were great though. Overall I'd rate it 3 out of 10 stars for optics alone.

Yes I hope so! I feel dumb for admitting it, but the first few minutes of the Challenge, I was like, "these actors are terrible", and what? They aren't being killed?". Haha, as it was billed as season 2.

There was a lot of depth to the original show, I think that will be there for the next season. Just, geez it will be like 3 years between seasons. I'll have to do a rewatch before it comes out.

Reads like everything that made it great is missing. Better keeping that in memory, like it is.
