How many Gods are in the bible?

Just want your comments on how many gods are spoken of inthe bible. I have many names of gods that are spoken of, and that actually speak. We are taught however that all of the references to god in the bible are referring to one. Will post the names of them ,and verses they can be found in after feedback!

First we should clarify...

Which Bible?

You know, THE Bible. The good ole King James Version Bible. I think that anytime you hear somone mention Bible you can just take it for granted that it's the Jewish Bible

There is exactly one God of the bible God the father,God the Son, God the Holy Spirit or as better know the trinity....add 3 plus zero in this book and you defy mathematics for the truth is 3 plus zero is 1.

You would be amazed to know there are references that those who partake of the flesh of Christ and the blood he shed for salvation that you are now obsorbed into this one for God the Son now is inside you........so now you have billions plus 3 plus zero equals just one kinda neat how math doesnt make since in the Bible you think.

What does three plus zero mean?

Here is a list I have compiled through me and dedicated friends own research that show other gods in the bible. You may dispute it, but after you read and do your own research, dont say it isnt true untill you look at it for yourself as I had to do.You cant deny it! It's right in your face!
This was told to me years ago but, I didnt believe it then. But now I realize that the Bible is not just about one god and his son, but many gods(as it states in Genesis -in the beginning Gods (eloheem -plural form of god in original text,) created the heaven and earth.)Also Let us make man in our image and our likeness.

So get out you pads and take notes..here goes!

1.Baalzephon Baal Tsphon,or Baal-Zephon= "Lord of the North." Mentioned three times: Exodus14:2, ...14:9, Numbers 33:7

2.Anammelech= "Image of the King." Defined in the Bible dictionary Lexicon as " an Assyrian false god introduced to Israel during the Monarchy. Worshipped with rites resembling those of Molech-companion god of "Adrammelech" 2Kings 17:31

3.Ashima "guiltless: I will make desolate" a god of Hamath 2kings 17:30

I'm sure you science fiction buffs not interested in religion have heard of this one:

4.Ashtaroth=Star, False goddess in the Canaanite religion, usually related to fertility or Ashtoreth,The priciple female deity of the Phonecians worshipped in war and fetility also Ishtar of Assyria and "Astarte" by the Greeks and Romans. Mentioned 11 times (Joshua 9:10,12:4,13:12,13:31,Judges2:13...sorry will return tomorrow have to go, phone is ringing. Im a server tech for IBM, just surfing away company time.lol

I hate it when I do that! In my experience, your post won't be deleted...I've actually read through the thread and changed my post to be talking about the topic in the past when I've done that You want to talk about coverups...

There are actual several "gods" (note case) mentioned in the Old Testament. What's interesting is some, like Ba'al, are talked about as being gods, but false gods. I find that interesting because the Bible doesn't refute that there is some sort of "god" the people of that land are worshipping. He simply states that they are false. It is one of those great mysteries of the Bible like ghosts. When Jesus was walking on water, the disciples said they thought He was a ghost. If ghosts did not exist, Jesus, as was typical of his character in the gospels, would have rebuked them for believing such things. Instead, Christ simply states that no, it's not a ghost but Jesus.

So, what the heck are these gods, and what the heck are ghosts, if the Bible legitimizes them as being real? Like maathotep, I intend to elaborate on this later, as I obviously have theories. However, like maathotep, I may not because life and other threads will get in the way and I will forget. Gives the names of about 28 gods/deities, but there is also 'God' and 'Lord' which ARE two different deities and could quite possibly explain certain phrases in Genesis.
"God made man in OUR image" and "Behold man has become like US" etc.

Just so happens that Jehovah/Yahweh became the main god of worship and then became the ONLY true god to then become the ONLY god throughout the early 1st millenium BCE.

and this is interesting, ' cuz I am a jealous God.'
If the only God is God, then what is he jealous of?
And 1 and 3 seem kind of redundant unless 1 is actually referring to other Gods.
If not, then the third one seems superfluous.

I have one word for the hardcore literalist and fundamentalists reading this post.

There is only one real God that exists as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

These other mentionings of Gods that people followed are not Gods. We are told that they could be carved peices of wood or stone or gold or silver etc. that a person made so that their eyes could focus on something, but in reality was simply wood, stone, gold, silver etc and has absolutely no power except the power of deceivement that the person gave it.

Now there is another God explanation. satan wants to be God and be worshipped. So since angels are lower than God but "higher" than mankind they have some knowledge and abilities than mankind does not have access too. So they can pretend to be almighty and deceive alot of people. That is why it is important to know what the Bible says. In there you learn what capabilities satan has. Most are deception of some nature.

So, there IS only one God who is infinite in power and has the ability to create something out of nothing. Only one who is omniscient(past, present, future). And one that is all powerful. He does not have an equal. There is only one who is the sovereign of the universe. Anything or other being is only trying to be an very limited imitator of Him.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say:

Read this article on the Babylonian Captivity. This was a crucial event in the formation of Judaism as we know it today. Note the reference to the adoption of a new script (the Hebrew alphabet), and the relations between the returned deportees and the Samaritans. Note also the reference to the canonization of the Jewish Bible at this time, and the suggestion that the Bible was edited and redacted at this time.

In Israel prior to the Captivity, Jewish religious practice centered around the Holy Land, especially sacrifice performed at the Temple in Jerusalem. In Babylon the captives were denied the Holy Land, and the Temple had been razed. The deportees evolved a faith that was not dependent on where it was practiced, and their concept of God changed, becoming loftier, more mystical, more cosmic, and less tied to a particular land and people. In short, it was in Babylon that Judaism as a truly monotheistic religion was born.

"You shall have no other gods before me" does indeed imply that there are other gods the Hebrews might have (and frequently did) worship. YHVH prior to the Captivity was only one tribal god among many. After the captivity, He became a universal God. And that is probably why this group of captives retained their faith and their national identity, while an earlier group deported by the Assyrians lost their faith and their ethnic identity and merged with the natives.
