The worse part is that this has been known since the 80's. There's a few studies on the effect of clean air laws on temperatures. They're the reason for the "step up" in temp in the 70's-80's. The smog prevented warming of the surface, artificially, as we come out of the little ice age. Clearing out the smog allowed the temperature to increase to what it should naturally be.

CO2 is plant food, pretty clear at this point. I'm thinking an increase in double the CO2 we have now would be great for the biosphere.
