Sad day. She lived a long long life. Whatever you think of the politics, it isn't always true that the good die young.

President Carter told his mother he wanted to marry Rosalynn after their first date. The couple remain bonded by their shared passion for service, and they're as smitten as ever since becoming nonagenarians.

"The best thing I ever did was marrying Rosalynn," the Nobel Peace Prize winner said in a 2015 interview. "That's the pinnacle of my life."

They were married for 77 years. Insane. A true love story.

Jimmy will rest easy knowing Rosalynn is at peace and waiting for him. I imagine the thought of leaving his wife in her time of need weighed pretty heavy on him.

One of our greatest first ladies. Like her husband, she truly tried to live her life by Christ's teachings.

Sadly, I don't see Jimmy making it to the end of the year without his love.

May she rest in peace.

Sadly, I agree. Jimmy may join her very soon.

In a way, I will be almost happy for him when he does. To have to live your life for any length of time, missing the one you have love the most.....is not an existence to be cherished.

That’s a bummer.

I always liked the Carters.
They seemed like good people.
Terrible president but that’s another thread.

We can all hope to be together for 77 years.

I would argue that he wasn't a bad President, just that he got dealt a bad hand. It didn't help that Reagan undermined his negotiations with Iran.

He's the kind of man that should be President and is a perfect example of why that kind of man can't be President.

I've been married 3 times. The current 37 yrs...can't fathom nearly 80 yrs.

I always liked her as 1st Lady. R.I.P. go with God...Jimmy's comin'...✝️
