It makes me a little sick when I see everyone and their brother saying all kinds of crap to Veterans.

Thank you for your service, blah blah BLAH, VOMIT

What a bunch of LIES!
What thanks, what thanks?
www.yahoo.com...

Authorities credit the Obama administration’s work to make housing veterans a top priority and more recently the $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package that boosted the Department of Veteran Affairs' homeless programs and expanded rental aid. Advocates also point to partnerships between government agencies, nonprofits and corporate foundations.

Do you believe the above?
Also numbers say there are 11K homeless vets. I’ve been a bean counter in my career and know a thing or two about statistics and probability.
Who actually believes there are only 11K homeless vets. That is laughable.

No matter the number, if there is one homeless vet, that is one too many. As they are feverishly building shelter for NON Citizen, again NON citizens, men and women that actually fought for our country lay cold, with mental illness and for what,
A Big OL’ Facebook Thanks!

PS… Like I’ve said before this new generation has seen with their own EYES how Vets are treated, and that is one more reason why nobody wants to join the military anymore.

My husband and I are both vets. I'm Army. My husband is Air Force.

I bet there are a whole lot more homeless vets than that. I can't prove it but that number seems low to me. And those that are homeless have emotional and physical problems that require lots of $$ to help. And they need $$ to give them a hand up in getting a degree and getting going in life. etc etc. We are spending all this money .. BILLIONS .. overseas and we leave the Veterans and the elderly to be homeless.

SIDE NOTE - Speaking of homeless - If everything goes spectacular and perfect, we should make it to 80 and then we'll be homeless. We've done everything 'right'. Served in the military. Got college degrees. Raised a family. Worked and saved. Didn't splurge or waste lots of money. Yet by my calculations we'll only make it to 80 and then be homeless unless our daughter can take us in. And she really doesn't have a place with room that we could live there. That's 20 years from now, but It's still scary to think about.

been years since I looked but its a heck of a lot higher than 11k, cant remember if the number I saw was 40% of homeless were vets or 40k+ were vets.

Like everything else when ever the fed tries to "fix" something its goes belly up sooner or later.

The VA is pretty useless.

Texas does a good job taking care of veterans, mostly through no income or property taxes. Also not having to pay tolls on the highway saves me about $200 a month.

The VA put my dad through hell. I know some people have had good experiences with them.
I also found out one time my dad was being “seen” by someone that wasn’t even a real medical person.

This appalls me as well. We have failed our men and women in uniform. My brother was Army. My father Army Air Corps in WW2. While I have never served, the way those that have are treated after serving their "purpose" disgusts me.

I agree with you that homeless veteran numbers are grossly underestimated. I also agree that there aren't many millennials or gen Z that have any desire to join the military. In fact, I would try to talk anyone out of joining the military in this day and age. And I say that as a 20 year Navy retired veteran.

I had this government drivers license. No expiration date.

I dreamed of the chance of once again being a hero. Like if some vehicle needed to be moved in an emergency, I could jump in, move it and thus save the day.

But I don't know where that license is any more; bottom of some trunk or in a land fill. I haven't driven in so long anyway I doubt I would be any help.

Oh well.
Happy Armistice Veterans Day.

AND...Don't forget U.S. Veteran Ashli Babbitt, who was mowed down by an enemy combatant named Michael Byrd, on January 6, 2021 inside our U.S. Capitol building.
