Hubble will live!

If we cannot save the hubble, then

modify the New Horizon spacecraft so that it can attach the hubble to itself(with the help of a shuttle), and bring it along the the journey to Pluto in 2006. It should give us very clear picture of our outer solar system. The New Horizon will have the best onboard camera among all exploration spacecrafts.

Or

use it as a spy satellite.

This is exactly what I was hoping for."This telescope gives great pictures that help open our awareness of the dark sea."Dark sea being our space.

Both of these ventures would require significant modifications, and a large decrease in Hubble's functionality. Besides, we can build better spy satellites and better satellites.

I think that even if we can do better now, which is nearly an understatement, Hubble has still a lot to bring us, and particularly because it is cheaper to just maintain it while it works fine, instead of losing it and starting something to replace it. It will obviously need replacement eventually, but then now we have some time to do it without being "in a rush"... We still have it there watching space for us! Hubble rocks!!
