Another Churchill;
"He's a modest man, with a lot to be modest about".

That Churchill was insulting everybody back then with some doozies.

Incidentally, I'm fairly sure he said "Madam, you're ugly", rather than the "Miss" or "My dear" being quoted elsewhere.

Who knows could go either way because she knew him well enough to call him out for being drunk. Was Churchill always drunk?

It was during a debate in the House of Commons. She was a political opponent, so she could criticise him as long as she didn't call him a liar.

She called him out at work for being drunk, so let's see, to belittle her he most likely called her "my dear".

Anyway some more politicans' insults:

“He’s got his headquarters where his hindquarters ought to be.”
ABRAHAM LINCOLN, 1862

“No use for their heads except to serve as a knot to keep their bodies from unraveling.”
WOODROW WILSON, NOVEMBER 1919

“He’s a nice guy, but he played too much football with his helmet off.”
LYNDON B. JOHNSON, LATE 1960S

Let's make peace with a different Winston;
Lady Astor; "If I were married to you, I would put poison in your coffee".
Churchill; If I were married to you, I would drink it."
