I'm not sure if Sen Bernie Sanders is still relevant or not. At one point he was very popular and had a strong following. He came out and said he rejects calls for a ceasefire because "Hamas is just dedicated to destroying the state of Israel". A ceasefire would accomplish nothing except allow Hamas to strike again - which it has vowed to keep doing until Israel ceases to exist.

Senator Bernie Sanders Rejects Calls for an Israeli/Hamas Ceasefire

Progressive Democrat Senator Bernie Sanders has rejected the call for an Israel-Hamas ceasefire because the Palestinian terror group 'is dedicated to turmoil and chaos and destroying the state of Israel.'

Sanders, who is Jewish, said that even Arab countries in the region know that Hamas has to be destroyed - and a ceasefire will not help the cause.

Sanders told CNN's Dana Bash on 'State of the Union' Sunday: 'I don't know how you can have a ceasefire, a permanent ceasefire, with an organization like Hamas, which is dedicated to turmoil and chaos and destroying the state of Israel.

'What the Arab countries in the region understand is that Hamas has got to go.'

'The immediate task right now is to end the bombing, to end the horrific humanitarian disaster, to build – go forward with the entire world for a two-tier, two-state solution to the crisis to give the Palestinian people hope.

Sanders is not the only one with this view. Secretary of State Antony Blinken remains opposed to a ceasefire - saying that it would in fact allow Hamas time to launch another attack on Israelis.

Two weeks ago, President Biden tamped down calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, telling Hamas to release the hostages its militants took captive from Israel – 'then we'll talk.'

You should stop for a moment when you find yourself on the same side as people like Hillary Clinton, Mitch McConnell, Bernie Sanders, George Bush, and Obama.

Just sayin...

Ooh and Trump how could have I forgotten.
Lol

Why do people keep "calling" for a ceasefire, as if shouting "Plez stop it, guys! Fighting is bad!" over the internet and TV actually does anything but boost the egos of the people saying it?

NVM, I answered that myself.
Whatever.

This has been what Iv been asking myself

Unless you live in Israel what say do you have when the people of Israel take to the streets making demands maby then it will happen but it certainly won't happen from some outsiders yelling at the sky about it in a different country

This thread should come with a cognitive dissonance warning.

Why? Do you always measure your POV against what you think others think?

I don't care who weighs in on what. I'm sure those same people feel that a sh!t sandwich wouldn't be appealing. Is that meaningful?

Even better when there is a big old protest, in good weather, near you! And if it goes on after dark, and some looting can be involved, thats the Bonus Round!

That is unless those are in the strongest military supplier in the world, the US. And how that howling in the US turns, may, and I say ''may'', effect the position of the US government on the funding and supply of arms to Israel.
There is a strong Christian lobby in the US, much of which is organized by fundamentalism that strongly believes that Israel as a nation is paramount to their expectations for the return of their messiah.

The Biden administration initially presented Israel with big money and weaponry as well as military being sent to the region. Now, the new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson who presents as a strong Christian man had put together a bill to supply Israel with 14.5 billion package. So the ''yelling at the sky'' of Americans, depending on who is doing the yelling might have a large effect on how this conflict proceeds.

If that doesn't load, a concurrent Guardian article says:

Bernie Sanders calls for end to Israeli strikes and killing of thousands

Funny. You're now using Uncle Bernard to give Bibi some cover?

This situation doesn't play out well publicly for anyone does it?

Nope. Not 'using' anything. Not even close. That's not my schtick.

I posted this because this is a guy who had a huge following at one time and it's interesting to see what he thinks of this, and if any of his followers are influenced. Apparently he is playing both sides ... both calling for a ceasefire and rejecting it at the same time.

Uh huh 🙂

I'm still going with any port in a storm

And this is gonna be my schtick from here on out:

A little peacenik flavored schmaltz for you Flyers. Hopefully sufficiently annoying

Hebrew and Arabic - English subtitles so you can follow along

No peace anytime soon unfortunately, but anything is possible in the future

My wish
