The almighty is so all-powerful and fearfully awesome that you should never utter his name
I will pass on that perspective. What kind of god is it this that will get upset by using its name? Sounds more like some entity that wants to hide in
the shadows. There is lots in this world to be fearful of, I don't see the truth about god and my place in it as one of them.
All of them.
That is, Ezekiel is commissioned to tell Israel that God's judgment is coming because they have turned away from him. The scroll-eating and
witnessing in Revelation is about telling the world as a whole. That's why the witnesses get killed in the next chapter.
It's a way of referring to God (as if He couldn't figure it out anyway).
Why would someone choose to use G-D over God?
Some Jews have been conditioned to think it makes them more pious (or righteous) if they write G-D instead of God (they would describe it as doing it
out of respect for God, but in practice it actually ends up being about being seen as being more respectful towards God than someone who
doesn't do that, i.e. being more pious, righteous, religious or spiritual, showing just that little bit more religious devotion, worship or respect,
as if it makes a difference). It started with conditioning them to feel more pious if they do not use God's name (replacing it with hashem, the
Hebrew word for "name"). They just had to take it one step further than those Jewish religious leaders who enlarged the scripture-containing cases on
their foreheads to show off their supposed piety and respect for God's word (and lengthened the fringes of their garments that were there to identify
them as religious clergy, all to show off, Jesus saw right through it, just as he does when religious clergy in Christendom wear special clothing to
stand out from the laity; a clergy-laity class distinction also condemned by Jesus).
“All the works they do, they do to be seen by men, for they broaden the scripture-containing cases that they wear as safeguards and lengthen the
fringes of their garments. They like the most prominent place at evening meals and the front seats in the synagogues and the greetings in the
marketplaces and to be called Rabbi by men. But you, do not you be called Rabbi, for one is your Teacher, and all of you are brothers.” (Matthew
23:5-8)
“Take care not to practice your righteousness in front of men to be noticed by them; otherwise you will have no reward with your Father who is in
the heavens. So when you make gifts of mercy, do not blow a trumpet ahead of you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that
they may be glorified by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
. . .
“Also, when you pray, do not act like the hypocrites, for they like to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the main streets to be
seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.” (Matthew 6:1,2,5)
Lol, look at the size of this box!
He must be really pious and spiritual and whatnot, pfff. (yeah, that was sarcasm) I'm sure he uses G-D instead of God as well, for the exact same
reason that his scripture-containing case takes on gigantic proportions. I doubt even in Jesus' time they already reached that size.
A little more about the subject I mentioned earlier where this behaviour of writing G-D instead of God comes from...
Jeremiah 23:27 talks about those who “intend to make my [God's] people forget my name”, and it has nothing positive to say about these people that
are playing right into Satan's cards/hand. To counteract Satan's agenda described at Jeremiah 23:27, God's intention to have his name declared in all
the earth instead is quite clear, as well as the reason why.
“But for this very reason I have kept you in existence: to show you my power and to have my name declared in all the earth.” (Exodus 9:16; Romans
9:17)
For “everyone who calls on the name of Jehovah will be saved.” (Romans 10:13; Joel 2:32; Zephaniah 3:9; Acts 2:21)

It has to do with recycling (pulping of books and newspapers).
Say you have a warehouse full of misprinted books that you want to recycle. But in those books is the word God.
It would surely be bad to pulp God.
So in the spirit of thinking ahead, the wise ones decided to print G-d, so that they could freely pulp away those things that were taking up
valuable space.
Because God doesn't care how much G-d gets pulped.

The Revelation of Saint John scarcely merits the title. Far from being a revelation, it is the most abstruse book in the whole Bible; and it was not
written by any apostle called John. Indeed most of the material is secondhand, being borrowed liberally from the Old Testament books of Isaiah, Ezra,
Ezekiel and, in particular, Daniel (which also has fantastic images of the End Time and refers to ‘one like a son of man’). Revelation essentially
is Jewish scripture.

What are you fishing for? Something you can pick a fight about?
I answered your first questions because I thought you were genuinely seeking a greater understanding. We are now getting away from the topic of the
thread, so that is the place to stop.
Sounds really ridiculous rather than "wise", as if God would care about such trivialities. Safe to say, he's not going to fall for such false fronts
of piety. Especially not when it's done on message boards that will never be pulped.
But maybe you were just joking around.
