Out in the dark forest where the sun never reaches the ground, there is a little clearing.
The creatures gathering there don't always see eye to eye. How could they?

For one there are bats and nobody understands bats. They spread disease and drink blood, what is beautiful to them is ugly to everybody else.
Then there are cats, everybody loves cats. They come in all colours and shapes and sizes, but all are predators at heart.
There are the boars who enjoy rummaging through whatever crosses their path be it light shrubbery or heavy rocks. They also enjoy mud, it is good for your skin, they say. Keeps the mosquitos away too.
There are deers and bucks. Shy creatures, easily spooked when approached. But really the heart and the souls of the forest.

They were used to the landowner keeping things tidy and clean. So much that they eventually came to think they needed an owner.
The spirit of the forest watched in distress as the clearing became smaller and smaller until one day the dark forest breached the boundaries fully and in slow motion the tentacles of darkness threatened the creatures in it.

But the creatures didn't just roll over and let it happen.
They reclaimed the darkness as their own.

Now we watch to see,
if the creatures can be free.

The End

Lol I was trying to explain to a 6 year old, what has happend here... I ended up with the house analogy...

somone stole all the keys, and no one got in anymore. But what we didnt know was this old house had a ghost living in it. Now we were all on the streets so we build our tent city, and then ghost appeared there handing out keyes to the backdoor... House owners are the worst

That was great! Somehow I saw it as a metaphor for us as humans but after Terpens's comment it's for ATS.

My first thought was, that it was quite charming and charmingly written!

Great descriptive imagery.

Glades are important to many animals.

If the does and bucks scout around they can find another glade opening as one is closing up. Some are semi permanent and some are temporary. They just need to get out more and look around.

Forest elephants can even make glades.

Only thing I feel it needs is a question mark at the end.

I know you're not looking for notes, but does this forest lay on state or private lands?

That was great in any case.

everybody thinks private but nobody really knows. Landowner could be the ignorant variable for caretaker?

I felt like the questionmark was already implied in the last two lines? Did it not translate for you?

Yeah, it is implied. Nevermind. That was good in anycase. Between your forest and heathen's bats, I'm actually hoping for state lands. Trust that a hell of a lot more than private land right now... which is weird enough.

That's lovely. I like the way you think. It's a good allegory.

Have you read Kafka's "The Burrow"? It isn't very long. You will totally understand it and it will help you creatively.
