The right to run for office, is a qualified privilege, in my opinion. It's qualified by local community standards, state statutes and federal laws. There are residency restrictions, citizenship requirements, financial obligations and filing and signature requirements.

This is not the case with the 1st, 2nd, 5th or any of the constitutional amendments.

SCOTUS ruled on what? They decided not to intervene. Perhaps, when some state actual does deny Trump a place on the state ballot, SCOTUS will get involved. Lord knows, it was their overlords that put this theory out there!

And, it seems that any 'ole state AG or state SOS can accuse Trump of insurrection, of at the very least, of giving aide and confort to the enemies of the USA, and refuse to allow Trump's name on the ballot.
