My house is an electric house. Electric water heater, range oven, dryer. Last months bill was $291 after they took off my $143 low income (in retired) discount. This is California and there are line after line of assorted taxes on the bills. I think gas is closing in on $7 a gallon here. It was over $6 last week for regular, and I don't use regular.

Retrofitting requirements was mentioned in a story on this last night on Fox news. I would not count on them allowing existing furnaces to be used after this abomination is implemented.

more people are listening to real scientists that say earth is still emerging from the last ice age and will continue to for another hundred thousand years, and human emissions are not the problem and are too weak to affect earth nature causes

Fox news just covered this again. About 50% of American homes will need new furnices with this new regulation. That is not 50% of homes with furnices, it is half of ALL homes. Pretty much all furnices will need replacing.

I don't think this will pass and if it does the next president will eliminate it, as this is another of the many reasons to vote Biden out.

I would like an advocate of these green initiatives to explain why they mandate expensive purchases unaffordable to lower and middle income people, provide zero subsidy to the actual buyers, meanwhile criminalising the cheaper alternatives?

Because to me it looks like a vindictive and malevolent tax on poor people. Who buys older, "dirty" cars? Poor people. Who buys (or rents) cheaper housing with older heating? poor people. Who can afford the new "clean" stuff? rich people. Almost exclusively.

All you are doing is creating more billionaires and making the poor even poorer.

I would also like addressed this endless "sustainability" crap while refusing to address the "profit at all costs" economic system. Surely environmental sustainability should go hand in hand with economic reforms that encourage a more sustainable business culture as opposed to further enriching the wealthy at the cost of the poor?

Why do all state funds for this go exclusively to for profit organisations that manufacture products exclusively for the wealthy? Or to "Investment firms" that just straight up steal the money through accounting magic?

Is it actually about "saving the planet" or is it in fact just another massive redistribution of wealth from the poor to the rich? Like everything else trumpeted by both sides of the aisle for the past 50 years?

We fill customer owned tank, and run pressure tests every year, regardless of owner. But right now, the cost of buying your own tank is stupid high!


When are they coming after Fuel oil furnaces? They are better, in that they are warmer. More BTU's.

Nearly 70% of respondents opposed policies that would essentially ban gas stoves, according to a June 2023 Harvard CAPS Harris poll. More than 80% of Republican respondents and 71% of independents were opposed to policies that would induce a gas stove ban, as were 55% of surveyed Democrats.

Beyond stoves, the DOE has also pushed energy efficiency rules for everyday items like water heaters, furnaces and pool pump motors. The Biden administration has also spent hundreds of millions of dollars to assist state and municipal governments in developing building codes intended to “decarbonize” buildings.
