Without historic and cultural context, it is very easy to come to such conclusions.
Please let us all remember, Rosicrucianism, Freemasonry, and the Royal Society fought an uphill battle against religious zealots who favored
illiteracy and ignorance among the general public.
Scientists, herbalists, botanists, and even astronomers were unjustly executed as “possessed”, “demonologists”, “satanists” and
“witches” during this very time.
Freemasons, Rosicrucians, and the Royal Society were simply trying to establish the freedom of thought among humanity, while the power structure of
the churches and mosques subjugated the world.
I must object to the op, in that esotericism and occultism seeks to find the harmony between spirituality and science, whereas Abrahamic monotheistic
seeks to suppress both.
