Van Halen at Castle Donington 1984 , a legendary show that I was privileged to see first hand , whenever I hear Hot for Teacher it takes me back to that Summers day in 84 , now thanks to someone unknown camcorder footage from stage side has appeared and been uploaded ... how long it will stay on youtube is anyone's guess but it's there now and well worth a watch , great quality and sound.

Yep, that's great quality for the era. I missed that gig; instead, I was at the 1988 MoR when two fans died, crushed against the stage barriers. We were 100k, 30 thousand too many. Iron Maiden headlined, and aside from the tragic death, which we only found out about later, it was an amazing experience... especially the bottle fights.

Thanks for the memories.

Still can't believe Eddy is gone.
Thanks for the flashback, I was 19 then. I saw them as well in Buffalo, NY on this tour.
This was a very cool perspective for a video.

This really brought back some great memories. From all my years, 64' - 23', if I could choose a period of time to be stuck in, it would be the mid 80's.

Awesome time to be alive!

We were there together my friend , GnR came on and all hell broke loose we were trapped in a sea of people pushing forward.
Scary.

Rip to those we lost.

especially the bottle fights.

, if you didn't smell of piss you hadn't been to Donnington.

Yeah, my mates and I pulled back from the mayhem, but we didn't know people were getting hurt.

If I remember right, even during IM's gig, the band stopped playing and Bruce Dickinson implored people to move away from the stage.

Yes, sad losses.

We left not long into Maiden's set , girlfriend wanted to go home but to be honest so did I , we heard about the deaths on the radio driving home.

Donnington was a special festival.

Always went to see Van Halen when I could, and saw them from Fair Warning - Diver Down in. Atlanta at the Omni, an underrated venue BTW, they were so good, and put on a damn good show

Lots of firsts for this 14-year-old kid, first time camping out for tickets first joint, first time seeing girls flash their headlights, first time on the floor within 15 rows. First time going to school hungover AF.

Funny how I can't remember squat about those years but for some reason concerts stick in my head.

That's a shame. IM was sensational, with the setting sun there was something about the music, the venue, the kinsmanship... magical.

We had to stay until the end because we had come up from London by coach. At the end, it was total chaos. People were getting on whatever coach instead of their original ones. I lost my numbered seat, slept in the aisle all the way home. You probably did well to escape early. It took us 3 or 4 hours just to leave Donnington Park.

Never saw them as Van Halen, only saw David Lee Roth, in 88', Poison opened for him. I was 18. (saw Poison 3 times that summer!)

Ah, the 80's. LOL

All right which one of you Brits ran up on stage and which one of your girlfriends did Diamond Dave fornicate with?

I can't listen to it loud enough...need to get a buzz too

They were so prolific, Women and Children First is highly underrated, Everybody Wants Some and Loss of Control, Take your Whiskey Home.

We weren't big fans of the synthesizers at first even with Eddie playing, but it grew on ya.

LOL VH concerts were a little more co-ed in the States
