The Black Forest hiking disaster.

In 1936 a group of English boys were led by their leader to what should have been a regular hike across the Black Forest region of Germany.

All the local villagers they bumped into, said no, please don't continue.

A snowstorm was blowing in.

"But no boys - even in your summer shorts and sandals, with snow on your heads - we shall continue"!

Five boys died, and there was never any justice.

The media and and the politics of the time found the teacher innocent, even heroic, and he went on to abuse other boys.

One boy's father stalked him for years, and ended up in a mad-house.
