1 John 3:4, 8: “Everyone who practices sin is also practicing lawlessness, and so sin is lawlessness. He who carries on sin originates with the Devil.”

Verse 6 also says: “Everyone remaining in union with him [Jesus Christ] does not practice sin+; no one who practices sin has either seen him or come to know him.” +: In the translation I'm using there's a bible reference to Romans 6:12 there: “Therefore, do not let sin continue to rule as king in your mortal bodies so that you should obey their desires.”

Back to 1 John 3:9-12:

Everyone who has been born from God does not practice sin, for His seed* [That is, seed capable of reproducing, or bearing fruit.] remains in such one, and he cannot practice sin, for he has been born from God. 10 The children of God and the children of the Devil are evident by this fact: Whoever does not practice righteousness does not originate with God, nor does the one who does not love his brother. 11 For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another; 12 not like Cain, who originated with the wicked one and slaughtered his brother. And for what reason did he slaughter him? Because his own works were wicked, but those of his brother were righteous.

Pretty clear if you ask me, for those for whom this isn't clear enough, you could read on from Romans 6:13-23 (I'll start with verse 12 again):

12 Therefore, do not let sin continue to rule as king in your mortal bodies so that you should obey their desires. 13 Neither go on presenting your bodies to sin as weapons of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as those alive from the dead, also your bodies to God as weapons of righteousness. 14 For sin must* [Or “will.”] not be master over you, seeing that you are not under law but under undeserved kindness. [other translations often render this expression as “grace”, from where the expression “saved by grace” comes from.]

15 What follows? Are we to commit a sin because we are not under law but under undeserved kindness? Certainly not! 16 Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey, either of sin leading to death or of obedience leading to righteousness? 17 But thanks to God that although you were once the slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that pattern of teaching to which you were handed over. 18 Yes, since you were set free from sin, you became slaves to righteousness. 19 I am speaking in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh; for just as you presented your members as slaves to uncleanness and lawlessness leading to lawlessness, so now present your members as slaves to righteousness leading to holiness. 20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free as to righteousness.

21 What, then, was the fruit that you used to produce at that time? Things of which you are now ashamed. For the end of those things is death. 22 However, now that you were set free from sin and became slaves to God, you are producing your fruit in the way of holiness, and the end is everlasting life. 23 For the wages sin pays is death, but the gift God gives is everlasting life by Christ Jesus our Lord.

"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone"

Son of Sam was mentally ill even when he was going thru the motions
of getting saved in that church.

Hardly credible in any context if you ask me.

And if we can live in this world and not sin then no need for Jesus
to suffer for us right.

I have Jesus and I can't wait to live in a world without sin. But that isn't this
world and I haven't put on immortality yet. Is OP leading a perfect sin
less life in this world? Or is he just driving himself nuts trying to, believing
he has to do something.

I don't think God is that senseless and I know he wants not one to perish.
When you observe all the people who flat out dismiss Jesus Christ and
Gods attempt to save us? Of course it would be on the most simple of
terms.

Obviously he could never make it easy enough for some.
If you yourself are living a sinless life at present I'd like to know?

Do you really think God would present us with somekind of theological
merry go round?

Today I'm saved tomorrow who knows, we'll just have to wait and see
how perfect my rear end walks tomorrow. Constantly stressed out
I may fall off the merry go round just before I get hit by car.

Next thing I know Satan's fork is jabbing me in the butt. Laughing at
my luck of steppin on a rake just before crossing over? Do you think
God is just playing some wierd game like that? I refuse to believe that
and if I'm wrong I think I would rather be. Giving him more credit than
that in my mind.

Isn't that faith or am I gonna burn?

I'd like to think that thru his son he is desparetly trying to save at least
those smart enough to see what he has done for us. This life will
pass away the next one won't because sin will not be apart of it.

Who Can Say He Is Without Sin?

...

... That the cause of man’s death is sin and imperfection inherited from Adam is clearly stated in God’s Word: “Through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.”—Rom. 5:12.

Adam and Eve had their offspring after they had sinned, or missed the mark of perfect integrity to God. Since nothing clean can come from something unclean, their children were not free from sin and its penalty of death. ...

...

... Only by God’s undeserved kindness in providing a ransom sacrifice can a person be released from enslavement to Adamic sin. “The blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin.”—1 John 1:7.

Those who deny that they have inherited sin from Adam or that they are guilty of sin against God’s laws because of missing the mark of perfect obedience do not speak the truth when they give voice to their views on this. Whether they be professing Christians or not, the truth is not in their philosophical or religious views. Imagination does not make facts. “If we make the statement, ‘We have no sin,’ we are misleading ourselves and the truth is not in us.”—1 John 1:8.

The One whose existence is made evident from the marvelous things we see in this material universe, things that show immeasurable wisdom and power, did not leave man without specific information about Himself and His purposes. He gave man a written guide in which he explains why all humans are imperfect and eventually die. The Holy Bible is that written guide and is the standard for measuring beliefs as true or untrue. In it he has revealed how he made provision for releasing humans from inherited sin and death. Because of God’s undeserved kindness through Christ man will, in due time, be able to say truthfully that he is without sin.

What Is Sin? (Bible Questions Answered)

Sin is any action, feeling, or thought that goes against God’s standards. It includes breaking God’s laws by doing what is wrong, or unrighteous, in God’s sight. (1 John 3:4; 5:17) The Bible also describes sins of omission—that is, failing to do what is right.—James 4:17.

In the Bible’s original languages, the words for sin mean “to miss a mark,” or a target. ... Thus, to sin is to miss the mark of God’s perfect standards.

...

Is it possible to avoid sinning completely?

No. The Bible says that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” (Romans 3:23; 1 Kings 8:46; Ecclesiastes 7:20; 1 John 1:8) Why is that so?

The first humans, Adam and Eve, were sinless in the beginning. That is because they were created perfect, in God’s image. (Genesis 1:27) However, they lost their perfection by disobeying God. (Genesis 3:5, 6, 17-19) When they had children, they passed on sin and imperfection as inherited defects. (Romans 5:12) As King David of Israel said, “I was born guilty of error.”—Psalm 51:5.

Are some sins worse than others?

Yes. For example, the Bible says that the men of ancient Sodom were “wicked, gross sinners” whose sin was “very heavy.” (Genesis 13:13; 18:20) Consider three factors that determine the gravity, or weight, of sin.

...

3. Frequency. The Bible also makes a distinction between a single sin and a practice of sin over an extended period. (1 John 3:4-8) Those who “practice sin willfully,” even after learning how to do what is right, receive God’s adverse judgment.—Hebrews 10:26, 27.

...

Note the bolded reference there, that's the text I quoted earlier, so that's what that text is talking about which is a little different from the subject of inherited sin (from Adam).

Perhaps some Christians can't figure out the difference between minor sin and major sin.
God's thinking on matters hasn't changed, it was the death penalty for even one act of adultery under the Mosaic law.
Under Christ law adultery can and is forgiven. Yet those that persist in a long term practice of adultery, are engaged in perpetual major sin. The bible says God is not to be mocked, in other words his standards being perpetually violated have serious consequences.
Even more so for Christians that should know better, Jesus ransom sacrifice covers our sins, but the bible says we can abuse that provision to the point where it may no longer cover us. Once saved always saved is a false dogma according to these scriptures

Hebrews Chapter 10

For if we go on willfully and deliberately sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice [to atone] for our sins [that is, no further offering to anticipate]......Anyone who has ignored and set aside the Law of Moses is put to death without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much greater punishment do you think he will deserve who has rejected and trampled under foot the Son of God, and has considered unclean and common the blood of the covenant that sanctified him, and has insulted the Spirit of grace [who imparts the unmerited favor and blessing of God]?

Clearly the ransom can cover our sins, and yet it has a limit, especially for those that actually know they are violating laws and abusing the "Spirit of Grace". That coverage is finite not infinite.

Still people can change and be forgiven.

1 Cor. 6: 9-11

Don't you know that evil people won't have a share in the blessings of God's kingdom? Don't fool yourselves! No one who is immoral or worships idols or is unfaithful in marriage or is a pervert or behaves like a homosexual 10will share in God's kingdom. Neither will any thief or greedy person or drunkard or anyone who curses and cheats others. 11Some of you used to be like that. But now the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and the power of God's Spirit have washed you and made you holy and acceptable to God.

It's simple actually, you can change and be forgiven, like Jesus said to the adulterer that was going to be stoned, he stopped it but said "sin no more"

Everyone sins. Everyone. Some can delude themselves into thinking that they don't, but they do. They just aren't aware enough to know that they are. They need to learn how to examine their conscience better.

Romans 3:23-24 23 For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. Yet God, in his grace, freely makes us right in his sight.

Ecclesiastes 7:20. Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who continually does good and who never sins.

Romans 3:10. as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one;

Psalm 143:2. And do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no man living is righteous.

For it is impossible, in the case of those who have once been enlightened, who have tasted the heavenly gift, and have shared in the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the goodness of the word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, to restore them again to repentance, since they are crucifying once again the Son of God to their own harm and holding him up to contempt. (Hebrews 6:4-6 ESV)

For if we go on sinning deliberately after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a fearful expectation of judgment, and a fury of fire that will consume the adversaries. Anyone who has set aside the law of Moses dies without mercy on the evidence of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "Vengeance is mine; I will repay." And again, "The Lord will judge his people." It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. (Hebrews 10:26-31 ESV)

For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first. For it would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from the holy commandment delivered to them. What the true proverb says has happened to them: "The dog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire." (2 Peter 2:20-22 ESV)

But when a righteous person turns away from his righteousness and does injustice and does the same abominations that the wicked person does, shall he live? None of the righteous deeds that he has done shall be remembered; for the treachery of which he is guilty and the sin he has committed, for them he shall die. (Ezekiel 18:24 ESV)

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God's children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure. Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared in order to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God's seed abides in him; and he cannot keep on sinning, because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother. For many years, I was a free-grace provisionist and dispensationalist; but I've come to realize that virtually all denominations and theologies are either wrong or heavily distorted. Denominations are by definition heretical. I am anti-denominational. My understanding comes from prayerful study and practice.

Very well put, I wholeheartedly agree with this. It's also a very rare understanding to have.

Within each Christian denomination there are kernels of truth amidst a myriad of misconceptions, often presented as exclusive to that particular denomination or sect. Unfortunately, these misconceptions tarnish the credibility of these truths. The devil employs cunning deception in this process. Adding another layer of deception, certain denominations proclaim themselves as the sole true church and arbiters of the truth, discouraging their adherents from exploring and embracing Biblical truths that are often associated with other denominations.

We must be very careful about what we hear and believe, verifying everything against God’s word in the Bible, for many false prophets, teachers, and brethren are in the world and among churches, like wolves in sheep’s clothing. But fear not, for God is greater and with us always.
