It's just as well. Trump is about to be indicted again by Jack Smith. And Fanny Willis is about to drop the hammer on Trump too.

He's got a full dance card, that's for sure!

The fuller the card, the more powerful Trump Skywalker becomes! You haven't learned that yet? Liberals/Democrats keep providing the same fuel....in larger quantities!

Refresher: Judge Aileen Cannon wanted the trial to begin in August 2023.

DOJ requested December 2023.

Cannon ultimately decided on May 20th of 2024. Two weeks in duration.

Cannon didn't want the trial in August. The Speedy Trial Act required her to set the trial for August.

If you've been reading what people experienced in litigating CIPA cases have said, the DOJ's request for December was never going to happen. There's just too many pre-trial hearings that need to be done.

By submitting their request first and making it such an early date, it put Trump's lawyers on the back foot. 11 months is an extremely reasonable time frame to bring a CIPA case to trial. The DOJ couldn't have hoped for an earlier date. This is definitely a win for them.

Trump might have been able to get a later date if they had actually proposed a date instead of arguing the trial should be delayed indefinitely. If they had suggested July or August the DOJ would've been hard pressed to argue against it.

But Trump's goal isn't to give his lawyers more time to prepare. It's to push the trial until after the election in the hopes that he wins so he never has to answer for his actions.

OK. Thanks once again for the education. I don't know what "CIPA"is, but I might look it up one day. As we're learning, it doesn't matter when the trials are held. If Trump is alive in Nov 2024, he will win the Presidency. Americans don't like certain elements of our government. To see our government harassing Donald Trump just because Biden told it to, makes more Americans gravitate to Donald Trump. (Giving bully government the middle finger.)

The Georgia case is a state case. If appealed it would go to the Georgia Supreme Court. Thomas, nor any of the Justices, have oversight of state proceedings.

Then Democrats must be angry at Clarence Thomas because he has the audacity to be a Smart Black Republican who married a White Lady who supports Donald J. Trump?

A petition to impeach Thomas, organized by the public policy advocacy group MoveOn, reached over 1.35 million signatures by November 28. It calls for Thomas to either resign his post or face impeachment. The petition accuses him of pushing a right-wing agenda while accepting "hundreds of thousands of dollars in gifts from a right-wing megadonors" and questions his ethics. Newsweek emailed the Supreme Court for comment on Thursday.
