Brazilian singer Astrid Gilberto, who is famous for the classical Bossa Nova song THE GIRL FROM IPANEMA, has died at 83

Gilberto, whose husband was Brazilian composer Joao Gilberto wrote the song with Saxophonist Stan Getz, was only 24 when she sang it

The song was an instant hit and still popular today, having been covered hundreds of times

Gilberto who suffered from stage fright took acting lessons to overcome it and became a popular jazz singer

I enjoyed listening to her lovely voice over many decades, RIP. But her artistry lives on forever.

That's quite an interesting tid bit, the fact that taking acting lessons helps with anxiety disorder and/or lack of self-confidence. Very interesting concept.

I love Astrid...she lived a wholesome life, and deserves to be celebrated. Vera Cruz such an awesome composition. Rest in peace.
