I think the Japanese have given more air time for the King then have for the last 2 years here for Biden. That should tell you something.
Also, the Japanese use British English on all govt. docs, Not American English, that also should tell you something .

As far as I am aware, American Presidents do not attend coronations of UK Monarchs.

Looks like Ol Joe is just keeping that tradition alive.

It's not really clear if they "don't" or they just "haven't" ... There's really only been 3 opportunities in the last 200+ years

Reading the whole of the BBC article Why US presidents skip British coronations it seems to not be any actual specific position just a bit of happenstance in the prior 2 coronations whereas there was a genuine opportunity that was forgone this time ... Make of it what you will.

Gerorge IV is sort of understandable we had only just finished the 1812 war 8 years before and enmity might have been a rather strong emotion then.

The rest though seem like its just something the US President doesn't want to be seen to be a part of.
