All eyes were on our state and it was clear as day, women right to choose will not be going back in time.

How important was this race?
HERE

For the first time in 15 years, liberals win control of the Wisconsin Supreme Court

This single race was the litmus test to the rest of the country. NO there was not cheating, the votes were being checked three times.
The turnout was historic in some areas. I know at my voting place I have never seen crowds of the like and the weather was horrible.

There was a question on the ballot asking people if they support welfare recipients to have to look for work. This was mostly put in there to draw Republican voters as these requirement are already in place.

Guys you need to take a deep breath because I’m going to tell you something you may not want to hear.
Your wife/girlfriend/mom/sister/aunt/grandma/female coworker might appear to be Republican inside and out, she might even say she is anti abortion………but when it comes time to vote, she is voting pro choice. You know why, because so many women know that this isn’t just about abortion. This is about etopic pregnancy, this is about the morning after pill, this is about our daughters being raped and getting pregnant, this is about men and doctors never caring for our health and just wanting to work out the details later.

Do you have any evidence that men are overwhelmingly voting against abortion while it is women who are "secretly" voting overwhelmingly for abortion?

You do realize men have daughters too right?

Based on national statistics women do have an edge on supporting abortion over men; but not in the capacity that anyone should be surprised that they don't know their mom's, wife's, daughter's opinion on the matter... this isn't the 1950s anymore where women feel afraid to let their opinions known. [I actually find it fascinating that so many women seem to fantasies that it is].

There isn't some sleeping giant here; its a 50/50 issue with one side having the current edge.

Uh oh, you found 2 out of 50 States.

If you're happy, fine.

But I hope we don't have to hear you whining and crying about how your state turned into a hell hole a year from now because you caved in to the commies.

Times sure have changed on ATS. A post like this year’s ago you would’ve had people flying in calling you baby killer and all sorts of nonsense.

you said

I don't know any States where those issues aren't taken into account in their abortion laws.

I provided examples and can find more if you'd like.

There are many like me that are in the middle, heck our state is considered a swing state. Republicans were really silly to press this issue. It's important and the majority are for it.
They need to realize that the vast majority of people are Fiscially Republican and Socially Liberal.
I saw this 100% with how voting results turned out, how referendums turned out.

Republicans went full retards on Abortion prior to the mid terms so that they could pull in more money by staying a minority, That and all of the games they played with not supporting campaigns during the mid terms IMO

Low information voters of WI are about to get what they voted for.

Your murder rates are already going up, and you just gave the leftists carte blanche to gut your legal system further.

But hey, now you don't have to worry about using annoying condoms anymore. yay

My wife voted for Governor Hochul this past November because the Governor ran on the singular issue of Abortion rights and made many people believe Abortion rights where in danger in New York.

My wife just found out that the Governor is a strong advocate for forcing "affordable housing" be built in our neighborhood; my wife now thinks she made the wrong choice supporting the Governor.

There were other issues more important than Abortion Rights in New York ... especially knowing Abortion rights were never in any danger. It makes me wonder how many other people allowed themselves to be fear mongered on the issue of abortion.

To be clear I do not tell this story as a form of gloating. My wife and I are both pro-abortion; I just wish she had listened to me when I told her how Abortion Rights where a non issue in New York and that the Governor was just pulling a snow job. I also don't feel as strongly as my wife does on the issue of forced affordable housing; its needed and who am I to say who gets to have it in their bake yard; I try not to be NIMBY.

This is one of those things that will always be up for debate.

The OP makes it sound like striking down Roe V Wade was soms sort of "signal" that works to Dems benefit? Yet, elections are done and no blue wave you speak of? Actions speak louder than words and while one states victory isn't a valid blueprint for what's to come, the battle between Life and Death will continue long after me and you are six feet under from old age.

My stance? I support "Life" and that Baby automatically VOIDS you and your feelings. Sorry, not sorry?

Actually, when I joined in 2007, everyone was very much more Libertarian and not for the government telling you to do anything.

Which life? The life of an embryo or of a 10 year old child that was impregnated by her dad?
The life of a mom that wants a baby so bad but hers was formed without perfectly working organs?

Not familiar with what is going on in NY but here abortion rights were a big issue.
Also it doesn’t matter which side people vote for, most of the time you aren’t going to agree 100% with everything.
You are right in that you have to vote on issues that are most important to you. This happened in Wisconsin.

or the 19 year old who uses abortion as birth control, and is on abortion number 7. Be sure to include everyone in your soap box rant.

If that 19 year old is on abortion 7 do any of us want to force that kind of person to be a mom?
Would we rather her had 7 kids and all of US have to pay for them?
What kind of parent will she make, and what kind of kids will they be?
Statistics are not in their favor.

WHO CARES! Those kids will all be alive and totally not all complete societal disasters due to the exceptional parenting skills.

Do you care? How many kids have you supported or adopted that are from vulnerable conditions?
