Though I know those weren't all his wives (but maybe they were), he marries them quite young, what is the normal age of consent of marriage within the community? Is it normally as young as 12?

Is this the normal iteration of polygamy within the FLDS way of life?

I'm all for upholding whatever harem arrangement there is, not even against polyamory, but are they all this cult-like? Are there family units without the lost in time dresses in plain colors?

It seems it would need brainwashing to get one to prefer this.

- The reason the FLDS exists is because their original version ended the polygamy thing due to United States government pushback, also called the 1890 Manifesto, which is included in their additional books of scripture. So, back then the rebellious RLDS holds up their freedom of religion, and did the thing which looks like the apparent reprobate mind crime those policemen worked on.
Note: I have not seen the video, but every State in the Union has their so called age of consent and/or marriage laws, if you are that person. Yes, this is typical behavior outside of the current LDS, as far as the world knows. They also do porn. Sin is bad. Stop being bad lol

- Depends on your definition of "cult". I mean, look at the Amish, for one of many examples. All groups have rules, mostly between consenting adults, but there they are on camera, online, on the Planet.
- Fashion-wise, yes. There are several television series on the different groups.

- Again, there are local legalities, and there are innate instincts, and there are evil men. Same as always. Brainwashing, MK-whatever, propaganda. See something wrong, do something good.

They absolutely are Christians. They are just a fundamentalist group of an established christian church. Link They are no less Christian than fundamentalist Jews are Jewish, or fundamentalist Muslims Muslim.

As Christians, they represent and speak for other Christians.

It's easy to say, when you don't like what your own group is doing -- well, they're hardly us, they don't don't even count as us -- but they are. And if you find something wrong with your own religion, speak out against it, write letters.

If you don't speak for yourself, your group speaks for you.

That's always troubled me about the Bible. Old Testement and all kinds of things are allowed, slavery, cruelty to animals, human sacrifice, polygamy etc.

Then God changes his mind and says NEVERMIND. We have something NEW now; forget that old stuff.

Seems a bit capricious for a supreme being in my opinion,

but I do love theology even though my course in comparative religion left me a little confused and slightly cynical that religion in general is a control mechanism mainly benefiting the "priestly" class of elitist ; selling "salvation" like so much soap or dental floss.

I'm sure these girls are there because their husband told them that it is their duty to the lord. Groomed from a young and naive age, with the threat of eternal damnation if they don't comply. Two of the girls were 14 and 11 FFS!

Now, say a married couple is okay with group activities and/or sex outside of the relationship. It's more common than you think. One of them falls in love with one of their extracurricular activities, bring it up to their spouse, they agree that the 3rd can be a part of their marriage. Totally okay because they were all consenting adults.

The pervasive double standards apply both ways, in this case tip-toeing around the sect's age of consent focusing on the polygamy part instead. Polygamy should be the least of the focus when you throw the 11 year old one into the windowless trailer.

I did some digging, and those are all indeed part of his harem.

I am using your post to point out that in a topic on a sex offender with incest charges it took until your post for someone to focus on the creepy child predator part other than me. That's indicative of all of society to sidestep certain things if it's on their side. Even very general indirectly associated sides.

Honestly, I wasn't as direct as I could have been because I wanted to see if it would draw the same level of condemnation of other derelict perverts posted about. Not even a "may he be killed for his crimes" yet. Also troubling.
