Ian Fleming Publications looked over at Penguin Publications and said "We saw what you did there...." .... with regards to Roahl Dahl's children's books.
Ian Fleming Publications licence with Penguin ran out end of last year. So, they went 'solo' given that it's some anniversary or another for James Bond this coming month. They had already announced they were going to publish some special editions of the books to celebrate.
BUT, when they saw the Penguin/Rohal Dahl fiasco which resulted in Queen Camilla even commenting, plus the public back lash with their proposed re-writes of his books, Penguin have said they will leave his books alone. Bet the sale of Roahl Dahl's books have a sales spike.....
...... no publicity is bad publicity...... guess that's what Ian Fleming Publications are hoping for too!

James Bond killed it for me when they put Daniel Craig in there.
He was the absolute worst. I don’t think he is a bad actor but in my mind and growing up,
James Bond should be Tall dark and handsome and Daniel Craig was none of those things.

What is weird about film right now is that it is Woke yet at the same time has some of the most graphic, disturbing content ever filmed. I understand there are some things that aren’t PC that used to be in movies, but both sides take things way too far.

Who would you have liked to seen as Bond?

Tom Ellis! or Henry Cavill
Pierce Brosnan will always be the most perfect James Bond for me!

Ian Somerhalder would be ok, but a little on the short side.
I hate to say it, but Tom Cruise, but I think we are all just annoyed with him at this point.
He's got his MI movies too.

Agreed, as Bond he looked more like a Soviet agent than British.

Live and Let Die defo needed some tweeks. But leave the rest alone!

Bunch of pushies

And Sherif J.W. Pepper? He made a return appearance in Man With the Golden Gun.

He did indeed in the movies, but thankfully i don't think they're recutting those. Just butchering the books

I always thought Eon missed a trick not using the Golden Gun opening as the opening of one of the movies. Still, it'd be an exciting and unexpected way to introduce the next Bond actor

You know that didn't even occur to me! No doubt you're right and it is indeed merely about getting readers to double dip, than it is about giving in to the angry mob.

And i find that strangely comforting! I guess capitalism is less scary than censorship and the authoritarian society that insidiously breeds (to me, at least)

Fair enough! But i gotta say i was mooting him for the part back in late 90s after seeing him in Love Is The Devil. It was the sadomasochistic sex scenes that screamed Bond to me... Maybe i need to talk to someone

I think he's been outstanding (although he has enjoyed a far better class of script and director than his predecessors)

Yes, I thought it was a great movie, too. Highly under rated.

This.

My fav of the books and one of my fav movies as well. The last Craig flick was a loose remake of it. Lazenby was certainly underrated but so was Timothy Dalton. The problem with the Dalton/Brosnan movies is that I thought the writing was lacking. Understandable that Ian Fleming had passed by then but they didn't get serious about it until they remade Casino Royale with Daniel Craig.

Bonus question: yes, Casino Royale was a remake. Who played Bond in the original?

p.s. thanks all for the input, discussion and feedback. I think this is my first thread to hit the front page!
