Lived in the UK, have family there, I know what I'm talking about. What you are describing is the BEGGINING of what happened. The 90s were just a few cameras here and there.
The McCann case (early 2007) came right about the time when the public was starting to feel "uncomfortable" with so many cameras and started to question it, particularly the huge amount of taxpayer money that was being thrown to it. At that time, there were many politicians, journalists and even civil rights associations questioning all this. Now, after Maddie McCann, these people are gone.
So, where my narrative is coming?... My own life experience. Plus, here you have a few press articles of the time reporting about how the UK was becoming a Stasi state:
news.bbc.co.uk...
www.theguardian.com...
www.schneier.com...
www.haringey.gov.uk...
Something similar happened at airport level after 9/11, all over the world, but particularly in the USA. I heard that the airport police likes to check American's buttholes since then. And apparently people seem to like it, they must be afraid of the next Osama Bin Laden....
Advice: next time, at least do a proper research, or try to know what you are talking about...
I hope you've been educated.

The mother of Julia Faustyna, 21, won’t hand over a genetic sample but insists she has documents proving Faustyna is her birth daughter, a private detective told the UK Sun.
I could be wrong, but whenever I look at this case, my feelings tell me that this woman is not Madeline McCann.
I see that a man abducted Madeline, and that she is no longer living.
The family of a woman claiming to be Madeleine McCann have said they are “devastated”.
Julia Wandelt, 21, has gone viral after claiming to be Madeleine, who vanished on a family holiday to Portugal in May 2007.
Now, Julia's family in Poland have spoken out to say they have proof that she is not who she believes she is.
In a statement released via Polish missing persons organisation Missing Years Ago they said: "For us as a family it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and step niece. We have memories, we have pictures.
"Julia also has these photos, because she took them from the family home with the birth certificate, as well as numerous hospital discharges.

Oh, here we go with the snowflake comments about people's "feelings"....
Angry? Why would you think that? Is there any insult in my post?
The person I was responding to asked where I was getting "my narrative", and I simply answered him, with the aim of educating him. Since when giving education is a sign of angriness?....
Much love buddy, and I leave you here with Andy... he is my #1 fan, can't stop talking about me XD

Seems like the young woman's mum would be in agreement with you.

Did he happen to resemble this dirty wrong'yin?
