In the last few weeks having been faced with the issue of Cancer I have formed an interest in how well people accept it and how many are out there
being open about it. Exposing themselves as mortal being something famous people rarely did a few years ago. I have recently seen an amazing turn of
acceptance by the public as well. The informing of the public by Peter Jennings of his lung cancer , and the release that Johnny Cochran having died
of brain cancer. I now openly admit that Cancer has touched on my body, not being famous I have never the less found the comfort from the efforts of
Jenning's and Cochran's stories. I would hope that more come forward as the key elements to cancer is the recognition and treatment
and not denial.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Longtime ABC anchor Peter Jennings has been diagnosed with lung cancer, the broadcaster announced on his evening newscast
Tuesday.
"Yes, I was a smoker until about 20 years ago, and I was weak and I smoked over 9/11," the 66-year-old anchor told viewers at the close of
Tuesday's "World News Tonight," his usually mellifluous voice hoarse.
He lauded his colleagues, to whom he had divulged his diagnosis earlier in the day in an e-mail, as "incredibly supportive."

The public seems to believe that Lymphoma is something that happens to someone else. I know that I did not give it a moment's thought until 1996.

Famous attorney Johnnie Cochran, who was a partner in a law firm here in Dothan, died Tuesday of brain cancer in Los Angeles.
Johnnie Cochran was lead attorney of the dream team in the so-called trial of the century, combining charisma with legal expertise and ultimately
getting an acquittal for his famous client, O.J.Simpson.
By the end of the Simpson trial, Cochran reached his own level of stardom and launched his own nationwide civil law practice. In 1998, he opened a
firm here in Dothan, where his partners say they lost more than a lawyer.
In recent months, Cochran has suffered the effects of a brain tumor, often checking in and out of a Los Angeles hospital.
He kept his illness low-key until last September to protect his privacy and the operation of his law offices.

While many resist admitting that they are mortal and can be afflicted by things such as cancer I feel a larger portion of the world poppulation would
benefit from the words.
The support and open exchange of information on these famous people has spawned a great out pouring of support, and has prompted great out cry for
advancements in technology.
Take this for example " A federal report using the most recent statistics available says that prostate cancer is the leading cancer diagnosed in
American men and breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed in U.S. women. The leading cause of cancer death for both men and women is
lung cancer." for more on this report see
www.fda.gov...
Yet I myself didnt know of this report till personally searching for issues on cancer research....Granted my cancer is in the lung and throat as much
like Mr Jennings I have smoked for over 20 years. But if I had not been afflicted would I have looked into, I believe yes. Like most when a famous
person comes forward with a tragedy I want to become more personally informed, that is why I would think it most beneficial that more come
forward.
Now technology must advance because of the awarness spawned.
