Seems you used a reliable source. I would say the Joint task force fighter is awsome for the fighter usage.

I am partial to the A-10 though. Fix that plane up with modern engines and it would rock anything!

To be honest, I was quite surprised at how the Super Hornet F-18 E/F series was rated.

I was also wondering why the the F-16 Block series wasn't represented...but nor was the F-15E......
I wasn't sure of the chart either being it is comparing a2a aircraft with aircraft that are also a2g.
Also, Jane's Guide has the M-29 rated as one of the best dogfighters in the world, along with a few others, but it represents itself on the comparison not quite too well.

Thanks for the comments Advisor and yes, the A-10 should be kept and updated. LOL, I can't imagine the A-10 with modern engines......that would, indeed, be a sight to behold. hehe

I agree, but it's not a fighter aircraft, that's why it isn't mentioned in the pic

What I do miss in this comparison is the JAS-39 Grippen. That plane rocks. Although I'm not really up to date with the specs of the Rafale, I'd say the JAS-39 is more advanced.

Zion, thats interesting that you mentioned Swedens JAS-39 Gripen. I just read a match up between it and a F-16 C/D Block 60 Series and compared to a F-22. That is a marvelous aircraft to say the least.....and also able to do a standard "cobra maneuver".

I have seen this chart. It is pretty old though, I think about five years.

Im really pleased to see that the JAS-39 has got a mention here, of all the 5th generation combat aircraft it has perhaps the most mature service record to date, both the Rafale and the Typhoon are barely beginning their service records..and although both are capable..I think the Jury is still out.
As for the F-18 E/F it is without doubt in my opinion the foremost multi-role combat aircraft in the world today, below 300 knots...it will eat any F15, F16, for breakfast, it has the range and weapon systems to match any Sukhoi product and best of all its easier than
breathing to fly one.
By all accounts the JSF is being optimised for high Mach number manueverability as well as being equiped with a thrust nozzle that will be capable of in flight vectoring...mayby a future winner as the chart suggests?
Finally a note on the Mig-29, a superb dogfighter with a high thrust/weight ratio....unfortunately combat manuevering requires afterburners=fuel consumption=poor endurance....I think the Mig is now a little over-rated...its a really thirsty monster, that in my opinion reduces its combat effectiveness in comparison.

Well, those just compair the ones they admit to haveing. What about the jets they have but are suppose to be top secret? Some of them have to be better than anything on that list, or they wouldn't be working on them. So, makes you wonder that if those are how well the ones they admit to having work, how well do the secret ones work?

That is why is a secret. But I can imagine exactly what they can do just from reported UFO sightings. If ufos are not real, then we have some VERY awsome fighters. If they are real we will need fighters every bit as good as theirs and better. We have done pretty good so far to create a powerful image, must have to do with something.

The US Navy has my all time favorite jet.

The F11-F1/Better known as the Blue Angels

Span: 31 ft 7,5 in
Length: 40 ft 10 in
Height: 12 ft 9 in
Weight: 14,330 pounds(empty) / 24,078 pounds (max TO)
Armament: 4 20mm cannon and four pylons capable of carrying either 4 AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles or 2 AIM-9 Sidewinder and 2 150-gallon drop tanks.
Engine: one Wright J65 rated at 7,400 lbs dry thrust and 10,500 lbs with afterburning

Performance

Max speed: 753 mph ( at SL) / 727 mph ( at 35,000 ft)
Cruising speed: 577 mph
Range: 1275 miles
Service Ceiling: 41,900 ft

I think they speak for themselves. Also a note to concider, It's not the jet that makes the fighter, it is the pilot.

It was a stupid move by the french, hopefully they can sell a few to some old-time partners.
The JAS-39 recently beated the Rafale in a competition for Hungary. I believe they purchased 14 Gripen's.
Already 232 Gripens have been ordered.
www.Gripen.com...:

Facts about Gripen

Gripen is the most capable and cost effective combat aircraft in operation today

The cost per flying hour for Gripen is lower than any other aircraft of its class

Gripen fulfils all national and NATO defense requirements

Gripen will remain at the forefront of combat aircraft technology for decades to come
