She said: “This is what the Air Force always asked me to say. It did not happen any kind of mass hysteria or visual hallucinations. “The psychiatry proves it didn’t happen. It may happen mystic collective problems when people commit mass suicide. “But nobody can have the same delirium, the same visual, sonic and synthetic hallucination at the same time and in different places.”

Which air force? ETA: oh Brazilian Air Force, it helps when I read the source. lol

As for the psychiatric explanation - that's what I've been saying for over 45 years, to myself mostly.

The doctor also said:

She also claims to have seen a UFO herself, adding: “I could see the UFOs bright metal and it wasn’t a dish-like object, but much more like a cone or a cylinder.”

So the shape the doctor saw is interesting too, aren't cone or cylinder shaped craft rare? ETA: yes, rare but...most sightings seem to not have any white light beam interaction with the witness, some others do.

such as the Convention on Cluster Munitions. As of July 2021, there were 110 states parties to the convention. That said, there is no way to say if any of those policies stop "shadow" organizations from doing their thing.
Russia, however, is historically known to have demonstrated far less consideration as to what is reckless or humane.

Ukraine isn't really any better:

(snipped)

The presence of the cylinder-shaped objects in most of the Colares incidents is definitely worth further examination. I've looked at a few other cases in which cylinders were seen in conjunction with other directed energy type effects, but seldom with the type of beams experienced in Colares. There are a few, but not a ton.

There's a peculiar one from Russia in which a cylinder "lands", and both the object and its apparent occupant struck the witnesses with a beam. It happened in January of 1980, a couple years after the Colares cases. This incident was originally detailed by Gordon Creighton and was published in Flying Saucer Review, Vol. 37 #4.
Two forest rangers were out setting wolf traps when a brightly lit cylinder-shaped object landed near them. A red beam of light shot out of the object, temporarily blinding both men. One of the men felt a tug on his belt and looked down to find a short figure with spindly arms and legs and a face with no eyes and no mouth. This humanoid was wearing a dark green, tight-fitting outfit, gloves, and appeared to have what looked like a dark tube hanging from its thin neck. The witness swing his ski staff at the figure, but the creature leveled the black tube at him, firing a pulsating beam of light, again blinding both men. Both men regained their vision in time to see the cylinder-shaped object taking off, apparently enveloped in a red, hazy glow. The man that attempted to attack the figure with his ski staff collapsed and had to be carried home by the other witness. He later suffered from classic radiation poisoning symptoms.

As I was alluding to in an earlier post about another description of a humanoid, if the "creature" seen in this report was not an actual non-human entity, it could very well be that this entity was psychological in nature, or that it was a diversion imparted during the operation responsible for the beams (note that the entity was seen after the first beam struck the witnesses from the object itself).

Very interesting. More for the books of UFO injuries.

Interestingly, we were discussing UFO cases involving people being injured by them in this thread.

I've noticed an increase in reports of people being injured by them. I wonder if this is a trend.

Very interesting cases in that thread (and some good discussion on the USOs, too), especially the 1981 case you mentioned from Plymouth, England, in which the witness experienced a painful burn from a pencil-thin green beam which stopped her in her tracks "like a film stopped and started". 1981: British Woman Burnt by UFO Laser Beam Thanks for bringing that thread (and that report) up.

I'm slowly building a small database of UFO and high-strangeness reports in which the witnesses experienced burns or radiation type injuries. They are arranged chronologically, and it does appear there has been in increase in these injuries since the 1980s (right after the Colares incidents). At least in cases in which the military is the likely culprit, advances in technology and testing may be partially to blame for the increase (along with an increase in communications/reporting).

Of course there’s usually a technical side to school up on….here’s some background you may want to peruse…..

I took a peek just now, those docs are great! Thank you. I will definitely be referencing them often as I go through my piles of reports.

ETA: quoted from the FOIA document Anomalous Acute and Subacute Field Effects on Human Biological Tissues,

Voice frequencies of 5 kHz-20 kHz can be RF modulated, and transmitted covertly, with intelligible effect. However, it is absolutely required that to hear the sounds, a human must have a capability to hear a frequency acoustic wave in the kHz range above 5kHz through 20 kHz.

"With intelligible effect"
A lot of the literature I have on Microwave Auditory Effect (MAE) describes a fair amount of difficulty in attaining intelligible communications. They have had no trouble generating "linguistic noise", but this is one of the more direct affirmations I've come across regarding intelligible audio. I've never once doubted that it could be done well, but is it interesting to see it described in this report. Nice.

Some more incidents that may be of interest:

Felixstowe, Suffolk, England, September 20, 1965, 2230
Source: Dr Bernard Finch writing for FSR

Three young witnesses, Geoffrey Maskey, Michael Johnson, and Mavis Forsyth, were parked in Maskey’s car when Michael Johnson hastily left the car. They all heard a high pitched hum and saw an orange, glowing object about 6 feet long flying over the car. Shortly after, Johnson staggered out from a hedge and fell unconscious. He woke up in the hospital and said he had been drawn from the car by an involuntary compulsion, and later spoke of “a man in the flames pointing at him.” He suffered severe shock, and there were burn marks on the back of his neck.

Bridgeton, New Jersey, April 15, 1997 From New Jersey Mufon
The witness reported seeing red and white flashing lights coming from outside her house. She recalled seeing about a hundred white lights moving in unison like a “swarm of bees”. She then experienced three hours of missing time. Later, she remembered (a dream?) seeing a man inside a plastic-like column filled with liquid with blue “electricity” flowing through it. She woke up feeling severely ill and found a scar on her face. Her next door neighbor woke up with terrible facial burns, but he had no recollection of any sightings. Comments: Example of a dream or altered-state which, potentially, could have been induced by MAE-induced brainwave entrainment.

_____________

And some of you may be familiar with the Denise Bishop case, which is worth re-mentioning:

Plymouth, England, September 10, 1980, 2315A
Above Top Secret, Timothy Good, 1988, Chapter Five.
thehiddentruth.co... va-18/
Denise Bishop just returned home from work when she saw a dark, metallic grey colored object with six or seven broad shafts of light coming from underneath it. The lights were pastel shades of pink, purple, and white. Denise was terrified on seeing the object and hurriedly reached for the door, but as she put her hand on the handle, a lime-green pencil-thin beam of light shot out from the unlit side of the craft, striking the back of her hand. The moment it touched her hand, she was paralyzed in her tracks. The beam stayed on her hand for what she estimated to have been at least 30 seconds, during which she could do nothing but stand and watch the UFO. The object was huge and silent. Denise reported that the entire area seemed unusually silent during the incident. The green beam was like a "rod of light" and gave off no ambient illumination. As soon as the green light switched off, Denise was able to move and continue opening the back door. She described the feeling as being like "a film had been stopped and started again." She said she had been "stopped mid stride, and when the beam went off, I continued with the same movement as before." As she rushed into the house, she saw the object lift into the sky and begin moving away out of her sight. She ran and told her sister, who accompanied her outside again, but there was no longer anything out of the ordinary to be seen. They went back inside and a few minutes later, her sister's dog began sniffing the hand which the green beam had struck. This made it sting. On looking at her hand again, she noticed a few spots of blood on it. She washed it and saw that it was burned. Denise phoned the police but they would not accept her report. They referred her to Bob Boyd of the Plymouth UFO Research Group who investigated the incident. Bob took a couple of black and white photos of Denise's burn mark, which appeared as a patch of shiny skin with some bruising and blood. "It looked as if a patch of skin had been removed, exposing the shiny, new skin beneath," Bob reported. He tried to get Denise to go to the hospital, but she refused. The wound was still very sore for two days after the incident, and a week later, the burn was covered by a fully formed scab. Three months later, she was left with a pale mark where the burn had been.
