Derby Patch

The wing-nuts on Martha’s Vineyard forced the cancelation of all future Monster Shark Tournaments and Block Island or “The Block” as it’s known locally was more than happy to take it and run with it.
Boy did this burn my azz!!!

The amount $$$ the island gave up because of “Feelz” just blows my mind.

Martha’s Vineyard still holds it’s annual Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby though.
(how long before the cry, “Save The Fish” or something even more stooopid than that is heard?)

In the first year this derby was only called “The Striped Bass Derby.
With the numbers of Stripers having dropped off they added Bluefish to it the second year.

I have this jacket patch from the very first time the derby was held.
For years and years I’ve tried to find another patch like it but so far it’s been a big NOPE……🤬
I had an islander offer me some darn good money for it once, five figures.😳

Anyone up for a challenge? 🤨

Anyway, that’s just a bit of MV trivia.
I hate what that beautiful island has become!!!

Appears to be made of felt should be easy enough to forge a replica. Keep the real and sell replica for 5 figures.
If you have the only known year one, not like comparisons are going to be easy to find.

You are correct, it is felt.
I spoke with someone I know tied to a crime lab.
I was told that even if someone did forge one, proving it is a fake or forgery would be easy.
A forger would need a piece of the original felt to pull it off.
