Nah, I think it's just that you're suddenly aware of it.
Satire on religons and religious subjects has existed in all cultures for as long as there have been ways of recording satirical elements. Any person
or organization in power is always open to being picked on and teased, and most societies have a system under which this is sanctioned.
For instance, during Saturnalias, slaves could pretend (officially) that they owned their masters, and many farces and comedies were presented.
