I'm guessing just a reflection of the sun or residual heat rising .

Or it's fake it is after all the internet that's always a possibility .

Atmospheric phenomenon. Probably a sundog. I've seen them, though the second sun appeared much closer to the actual sun than this. They are caused by ice crystals refracting the rays of the sun.

Either that, or it's a harbinger of the end of the world.

Is he a film director? Because that background music (if you want to call it that) is straight out of a horror flick. 👎

Possibly a fire on a mountain?

Interesting anyways. Ty for sharing.

The Sun is setting in the west and the ground level of the car is partially in shadow. There is a taller area to the east that in still in full sunlight and therefore is brighter than the area around the car.

It is simply something that guy has never noticed before. The Sun always does that in hills and mountains.

The Sun rises just the opposite way. It can light a high area to the west before you are able to even see the Sun if you are in a valley.

Oblivious flatlander I think is the explanation. But to answer the guys question, "It's a cloud".

IDK no other motorist seems to be stopped and other folks aren't outside taking pictures of it as well so I am guessing its something that is ordinary.

What is a parhelion?

sun dog (or sundog) or mock sun, also called a parhelion (plural parhelia) in meteorology, is an atmospheric optical phenomenon that consists of a bright spot to one or both sides of the Sun.Two sun dogs often flank the Sun within a 22° halo..
