Thank the guy who went so you didn't have to.

I was lucky enough to see Pantera 3 times in the early days , this is like watching a Soulless covers band.

Thanks for posting! Skimmed through. Was looking at the possibility of seeing them next year, wasn't too enthused about mr. pinch harmonics grabbing the axe for the occation. Those monies will now be put to better things I believe.

Wonder if Ola Englund would do a better job playing Dimes stuff.. Heh, I know he would, actually.

Yep. I called it. Zakk halfassed it just as I said. Ola probably would’ve done a closer representation of dime’s licks...but zakk was supposed to bring some legitimacy to it.... I guess Phil and Rex are out of money

All the unnecessary pinch harmonics in the main riffs for I'm Broken just solidified my decision to not go to this show.
And the lead was a, sh**show. I'm good skipping this one.

Im confused OP..ha.."hey guys, here's some crap music just in case You weren't screwed up enough!" have a listen..I like riddles just as much as the next dummy, but Im not biting on this one..I bought Far beyond Driven as a new release..I was pretty drawn to the cover..hadnt really heard the band..I was young at the time, and "Good Friends and a Bottle of Pills" was one of the most disturbing things I had ever heard..I had to force myself to embrace the horror of that CD and become somewhat of a fan..later exploring their other music finding it was nothing like Beyond Driven..

Oh dear. How could they?
My rebellious youth was powered by Pantera....
This should have never been attempted. So sad.
But, at least the kids might get a taste of what it was like, being up the front at a Pantera gig back in the day...
It was pretty special..... Pretty brutal.... So good.

And the psychic musical force of two talented , biological brothers, on the same page, on the same stage, playing metal......
That was something really special. They had a groove that couldn't be replicated.
What an utter tragedy.
So blessed to have seen them in their prime, dressed in cargo shorts, gasping for air in an uncontrolled pit, violently grooving, the sweat, the stink, the booze, the drugs, and the car park at Festy Hall... Glory days indeed.

Saw them 3 times one at a small venue on the Cowboys tour , one when Phil got fat , druggy and preachy ... man was that boring.

I was also lucky enough to see them at Donington 94 ... ah the memories.

I'm in there somewhere.

I love it. Should Phil and Rex not be allowed to play their own songs that they helped create? If they can make some money from this, more power to them. Nothing wrong with it. Zak and Charlie are great players. Some people are like Greta Thunberg looking down their noses and saying "How dare you"?

Two of the Beatles are still alive too.
Should the Beatles reform?
Why or why not?

If Paul and Ringo wanted to get together and do a Beatles tribute, why not?

Not a tribute. The Beatles. The actual Beatles. It would be called the Beatles and two other guys who didn’t do the work of John or George would be the Beatles.

Vinnie Paul's opinion of a Pantera reunion with Zakk Wylde.

Youtube short.
www.youtube.com...

It's not so much the fact they did it that gets fans upset it's that they called it a reunion , might not matter to some but to others it's Heresy ...

RiP the Abbott brothers.

I gotta agree. Haven't been this let down by Pantera since Reinventing came out.

Dime is hard to cover. There's feeling in his inflections during solos that I just can't get from Zakk, who plays mostly lacking the emphasis and feel. Phoned in even. Dime was a drunken guitar jedi. Way harder than covering Randy Rhodes.

Worth noting Zakk is getting progressively better at leads if you watch some of the Knotfest shows. And he needs to knock it off adding his SIGNATURE pinch harmonics Dime didn't use.

Checking their tour it looks like Metallica's overpriced stadium tour has Pantera opening in LA. Tickets from 190 dollars after fees. For a lineup I would have found sacrilegious in 1996. It's off but might go anyway. Their going to have about 50 shows under their belt by next August.

It's a depressing full circle. Like Pantera once played Black Sabbath or KISS better than Black Sabbath and KISS, Avenged Sevenfold now plays Pantera better than Pantera.

I feel middle aged.

I wish they would do more a tribute by tossing in some of the songs with the iconic solos.

And cover it as closely as possible. That's what I want to see anyway.
