Would like to hear about this from others.

By "messages", I mean one hears or sees a word or phrase in a dream.

I recall a dream in which I heard a word that context implied was the name of a town or city.

Upon waking, I was curious and looked it up.

Off by one letter was a small port town in Sicily. (I've never been there and had never heard of the place.)

Doesn't happen often in dreams, but it is intriguing when it does.

Cheers

Yes. To me, dreams themselves are messages/messengers.

The fear of death dreams I have are powerful serving as a bridge to transcend the fear of physical death in this life.

Dreams are a mystery to me. I dream often and usually remember them, for a while amy way.

I have dreamed things that later came to past. I have not had any dreams that I would call prophetic though.

Though this passage is worth thinking about.

Acts 2:17

17And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams:

Something similar happened to me a number of years ago. In fact, I think I wrote about it in one of these forums when I was registered under a different username.

My first car was a 1967 Rover 2000tc, like the kind the British police used back in the day, but quite rare here in the US at the time. This was in the late 1970's. Years (decades) later I had a dream in which, for some unknown reason, I was part of a team of volunteers helping to deliver medicine for some kind of disease, throughout our community.

We had all met in a school cafeteria for our orientation and route assignments and were now going out to the parking lot to get our cars and get underway.

Being a "car nut", this is where the dream gets interesting.

As I get to what I recognize as "my car" in the dream (not the car I drove in real life), I recognize it as the model Rover as I used to own.

Well, not the same, really. This car was red, with a white hood and roof and reddish interior; mine hade been traditionally, British Racing Green with a saddle brown interior.

Additionally, the dream car was a station wagon (AKA, an Estate car), whereas my old car had been a 4 door sedan.

In fact, back when I owned it (the late 70's remember), I was unaware that the model was available as anything other than a 4 door sedan. In fact, it actually wasn't, not by the company anyway. It wasn't until I posted my original description of this dream did I find out that there was a firm in Britain that had "converted" a handful of Rover sedans into estate cars.

Only around 150 were known to exist.

Somehow, pre-internet, my dream mind keyed me into something I never suspected to have existed, but was in fact real.

Or at least, had been, years before I suspected it.

when I was in the Navy I had a dream about some kind of strange aircraft.
one day I saw it; an E-2 Hawkeye.

I used to have a lot of aircraft dreams for some reason. not so much anymore.

my dreams fascinate me but I can find no meaning to them.

thanks everyone for sharing. great topic.

interesting; two dream threads a few hours apart

I had one with words. Dreamed I was homeless again and wandering around a city. Wasn't stressed by it as it looked like Seattle with all the overpasses, so pretty familiar. Anyhow, I was looking for food when I came across a guy playing music on the street and he was singing House of the Rising Sun. I've always loved that song so naturally I started singing along in my dream but it got to the line where it says "spend my life in sin and misery" he stopped singing and looked at me to continue...and I could not for the life of me remember the "sin and misery" part.

Then I woke up just knowing it was a message, less about sin/more about misery as I used to sometimes have a piss poor attitude about things going wrong in life where a small strike against me could send me into a deep depression. Over sensitive for the most part. The dream really helped me get past that.

I've often wondered about the same thing. I'll sometimes have words or phrases that come up in dreams and they usually stand out from the rest of it all. Usually, when I look it up, it will be a real place or thing that I've never really heard or even thought of. This morning, however, I woke up because I heard whispering in my ear. It reminded me of when my kids were little and tried to wake me up by whispering "mom" over and over. As I came to I heard "my shaking starts today", not sure what the hell that meant. Usually, phrases or words like that are in my dreams, not something that wakes me up. The whispering seemed audible as I was waking up, but you know how those things go.. half awake maybe it was something I was hearing in a dream and my brain confused it?

Someone gifted me an old, green book titled the "Pursuit of Knowledge". I don't know if it's a message but the dream has stuck out to me these past few months.

That "shaking" message would have unnerved me. Hopefully just mind-babble.

Interesting.

If you do an internet image search on that title plus the word "book", a couple of green-colored books with that in the title pop up.

Had a dream this morning in which the word "frocked" played a role. It was in this sense:

In the United States military, frocking is the practice of a commissioned or non-commissioned officer selected for promotion wearing the insignia of the higher grade before the official date of promotion (the "date of rank").

Mind babble near as I could tell. In the dream, I mentioned that word and its meaning to someone else and they smirked when they heard the word. Which mirrors the reaction I had when I heard it the first time.

Some dreams are just dreams. Some are not.

I don't understand why nobody has asked the first question that came to my mind. Maybe it's just because I'm always looking for stray threads missing from my own tapestry.

What was the name of that little port?

Long lost to my memory, I fear. I vaguely recall it being on the north coast of the island.

I never remember them. I've read in dreams and had conversations I'd love to remember, those types of dreams can repeat or come back to me in a bit of a flashback.

When I have remembered bits there's usually a connection to things irl that's highly strange or abstract. One lovely dream I had was talking to a girl I knew when I was younger, she's dead so it was a bit emotional, I naturally woke up a bit inspired and went looking.

Found her memorial page online. It was her birthday.
I'm terrible at remembering birthdays too, consciously anyways.

Maybe some dreams are not dreams?
Idk, our heads are filled with so much information that we apparently forget over time, it's highly possible the dream I just mentioned was inspired from a long lost memory.

I was startled awake by the voice of a child coming from the right side of my bed near the foot of the bed. This happened this morning less than 30 minutes ago.

One word confidently spoken. Word was clear but I am unsure of what it was.

Cheryl?
She'll (She will) (She would)??
Sheol?
