I read that they had found a frozen mammoth
and it still had meat on it!
wolves ware eating it.
so it was not past its sell by date.

It could have been more than 50k year old virus on it.
and the wolves would spread it.
or how many time Has this hapend before?

it is extremely rare for Viruses to jump from Animals to Humans ...but not impossible.

I would think humans can create something far worse in a laboratory these days then nature can produce.

I'm jw why all of this climate change is going on with the melting of the ice to unleash the zombie viruses.

So many people say it's liberal bs about it being man made and its bad for business.

Hopefully someone will chime in and explain that the entire solar system is heating up because we're entering a new section of the universe where the temps will eventually make us extinct.

Exactly!
Bacteria can survive/hibernate in ice, they don't need a living host.
Viruses need a living host otherwise they die. So, it follows that these viruses they have found must have been found inside some living matter before both froze and went into 'hibernation' as it were.

Probably you're correct. Worrying about diseases locked in the permafrost has been a thing as far back as I can remember along with how screwed we'd be if the permafrost melted unlocking all the carbon & gasses. (1970's) Pretty sure there was a issue with a type of anthrax on the Kamal peninsula they unleashed when they were digging up a Mastodon 10-15yrs ago? Altho that incident was completely unintended.

It's bound to happen eventually in circumpolar archaeology that we're going to come across unusual & old diseases. I agree 100% we need to worry more about what we're currently puttering with in labs just because we can. 100% containment is a pipe dream that researchers keep overlooking.

Damn, I remember seeing the original movie as a kid and reading the Creighton novel much later, but yea that and the book the Hot Zone and living close to CDC all make you think about all of this in its harsh realities. Sooner later somebody is gonna screw with it, it again is human nature and initially, it will have altruistic reasons.

Hell I feel that way about COVID at first it may have been approached as a serious and legitimate concern, but at some point some people said they can do some thing else with this. Again human nature, take some thing that is gonna happen and spin it to your advantage.

My point is our DNA has met this thing before either as a fish, ape or human. That is my point, the DNA tidbits are not new to our DNA strands.

As others have noted with me, there is a need to be concerned with the new ones. Those would take a while for our DNA to learn how to survive the changes.

No doubt Ebola could be a man made thing too. I have no faith in these scientists running the virus labs anymore. Too many obvious lies leave us in a place of lack of trust and how to ever regain it again?

Anthrax isn't a virus, it's a bacteria.

I am not too concerned about people studying these viruses, as long as it's done in a safe and controlled environment. I am also not too concerned these viruses can infect us as they are specific to Mammoths and other species, and pre-date modern humans. My main concern is that they will be messed with and weaponised. There are some truly evil people in this world.
